Character Name: Fluttershy
Series: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Gender: Female
Age: Young adult
Species: Pegasus Pony
Appearance: Fluttershy looks more or less like your average pony, except by which I mean she is very obviously not a normal pony, because she has wings and has pink hair. But she still walks on all fours and has hooves, that’s like a normal pony thing. Her long pink mane has the tendency to hang over her face, covering her wide turquoise eyes. Her body is a pale yellow color, with the cutie mark of three pink-and-blue butterflies depicted on her flank. Next to a fully grown human, she would be about at their waist, at her shoulder height.
Personality: When first meeting Fluttershy, she’ll very clearly live up to her name, avoiding eye contact and barely able to raise her voice above a whisper for her uncontrollable nerves around strangers. Even after having gotten more familiar with others, she’s still very soft-spoken and strives to be agreeable; she can be a bit of a doormat in her striving to keep others happy, on top of being extremely skittish and very easily spooked. Rather than spend time with others, Fluttershy frequently prefers to surround herself with the company of small animals, with whom she holds a special connection.
Her fearful tendencies can potentially immobilize her entirely, even when her friends most need her. However, even in these times, Fluttershy can still be relied upon to do what is right. She simply will not stand for anypony being mean or cruel to her friends; even if she’s scared and unable to stand up for herself, this pony will never allow her friends to get hurt if she can do something about it.
Most would assume that it’s impossible for Fluttershy to appear overbearing, and most often they would be right. However, flashes of a stern attitude peeks through from time to time, when truly frustrated with the actions of another. When really, truly irked, her glower is a thing to be reckoned with. This, however, is only reserved for rare moments of extreme conflict. Most often, Fluttershy’s most shining trait is her firm belief that kindness is the best way to get along with anyone.
History: As a young filly, Fluttershy was even more shy than presently, and extremely uncoordinated to boot. Raised in Cloudsdale, she had never seen the ground or come down off of the clouds that Pegusi could naturally walk on. Though she tried to attend Flight Camp like most young Pegusi, she had no talent for flying, and had a great difficulty even getting off the clouds, leading to her being bullied and mocked by other young ponies. However, another young Pegasus named Rainbow Dash stood up for her… though Dash’s methods ended up knocking her off the clouds. Unable to get her bearings, Fluttershy plummeted to the ground, and only managed to get saved right before a surely fatal landing by a huge group of butterflies passing below her. Having never seen such creatures as high up as Cloudsdale before, Fluttershy was astounded; the ground had such an array of sweet, kind, cute creatures! After discovering her innate talent to communicate with animals, she decided she would much rather stay on the ground, in Ponyville, than return to live in the clouds.
Fluttershy grew up and made a number of friends in Ponyville, and got the job of being the primary caretaker for animals around the town. A great many adventures happened, from fending off a dragon, to reconciling issues between a herd of buffalo and a new settlement of ponies, to simply trying to manage the difficulties that naturally happen with her own friends.
Some of the more noteworthy encounters involved the Elements of Harmony, a powerful force of friendship embodied, used to defend against frightful and cold-hearted of enemies. It started with Nightmare Moon, who wanted to make things dark a while, and then in trying to stop her Fluttershy found out she was the Element of Kindness! Neat. Then later Discord came up, and made things sort of weird, so they used the Elements to turn him to stone. Kind of harsh, but friendship can be mean like that.
Extra notes: Fluttershy is a terrible riffer. Why would anypony have fun making fun of others?
