Pairing of the week Seiya/Usagi

Feb 23, 2012 16:53

So here's the new pairing of the week Seiya/Usagi: Discuss!

Personally I ship them in the anime, but only from seasons 3-5 when Mamoru's character got derailed.

Next pairing will be Usagi/Minako (A pairing I'm rapidly starting to love)

I hope I didn't miss the Rei/Usagi discussion. 0____0

Don't remember much of Stars at all (though I'll be re-watching it as soon as I'm done with SuperS), thus I have no comment for this discussion. ^^;

But Usagi/Minako, OMG, I cannot wait for it!

Don't worry you didn't. :)

Usagi wise so far it's been: Mamoru/Usagi, Diamond/Usagi, and now Seiya/Usagi.

Oh, darn. I missed Mamoru/Usagi when I was still waiting for membership approval. >>;

Well, if not for the fact he IS Chibi-Usa's father..... <<; That's really the only reason why I can back up the infamous couple.

You can still list your opinions here about the Usagi/Mamoru couple, especially since its hugely related to the Seiya/Usagi couple. :) You can give your reasons as to why you prefer either couple over the other.

Usagi with Seiya is my OTP for the pairings with Usagi. With Anime!Rei/Usagi very close behind.

In the context of Usagi's life at the time she meets Seiya, with Mamoru gone, I think the idea of another romantic lead is interesting. It shows that even Usagi can be swayed (more so in the anime) to question her feelings and be confused - something so small as a crush, an infatuation can throw her life off balance when the stakes are so high.
I like their relationship in the manga, because they remind each other of the people they miss, which is very melancholy and romantic imo. In Usagi, Seiya sees the strength and majesty of a princess; in Seiya, Usagi sees a fighter with strong purpose like Tuxedo Kamen.
Personally I don't mind Seiya as a female or as a male, though I like the idea of Usagi in a relationship with a female.

Ultimately, Usagi and Mamoru will be together. I like to see Mamoru and Usagi in an open relationship, tbh. They come back to each other in the end, by forces perhaps even beyond their control - but since their commitment is so long term, they both have the right to "experiment", if you will.

That's definitely an interesting way of looking at it! It hadn't even crossed my mind before, but I like!

This is actually my OTP in SM, right now they're airing the Stars season on Portugal tv kids' channel and i gotta say that it grows stronger and stronger everyday even more than when i was a kid, even as a female or a male, i don't really care, i think that Seiya trusts Usagi and that his feelings for her are stronger or at least he is more true to himself than Mamoru was with her, sure a woman doesn't need a guy to shout at her that he loves her every single day but in the anime i feel that Mamoru lacks a lot of tact in terms of showing affection towards Usagi which is something Seiya completes Usagi...I really love to see their interaction and how they are affectionated towards each other, i mean, Seiya takes a near death blow to protect her, she risks everything by running to see him even against everyone's PoV's, they are really endearing for me <3

Definately, Usagi was almost always left wanting with Mamoru and Mamoru just seemed so aloof and accepted their limited interaction like a divorced parent that just has their kid on the weekends. Seiya bothered to go the extra mile.

I adore this pairing. ADORE it. Maybe it's because some the people that worked in the anime disliked Mamoru, but, I feel like Seiya was much better developed. And, to me, the development of their relationship seemed much more natural than Mamoru and Usagi's.

In Classic, until Serenity's reveal, all we know of Mamoru is that he's this guy that occasionally bumps into Usagi, and says something rude to her before walking off with a smug grin. And then, suddenly, they get trapped in an elevator for a few minutes one night and... bam, they're in love!

Seiya DOES tease Usagi, but it's not in a rude way, a line that Mamoru dangerously steps on during Classic. In fact, most of Seiya's "teasing" overlaps as flirting, since he's very playful and coy about it. I love how his little "Oh, come on, you know you want it" attitude gets on Usagi's nerves at first. None of his teasing is ever disrespectful or crude. And, through working together at school, they grow closer as friends. Their relationship doesn't JUST start the moment they ( ... )
