i could have far worse jobs. i mean, i get to talk to little old ladies all day and ask what they're making and get tips and stuff and i do get discounts....but i also get way too many hours for my liking

you probably wouldn't mind having so many hours if you were doing something you were truly passionate about.
day jobs, or tide-me-over jobs can be good for money, but when you end up doing something you love, you don't mind totally exhausting yourself working, as I'm sure you know.
But definitely nice to know that you're appreciated enough to be given more responsibility!
