1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?

Let's see... Went to lots of countries I've never seen before. Taught a classroom full of students. Got a "big girl" job. Bought a car. Lived by myself. Had some lovely "girl" experiences. Wrote a full "one-shot" novel. Went to San Francisco (a couple times, at that...).

2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I didn't make any last year... But this year my resolution is to get that grant out of TFA, mwahah. I'm going to edit the NaNo novel from this year (fully, not "edition number 24,000 like with my other novels). I also intend to finish a Steampunk outfit.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Yes! Lots of premies this year, actually...

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No, fortunately.

5. What countries did you visit?

Ireland, the Netherlands, England, Wales, Scotland, and Mexico!

6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

Love of the romantic variety. And a pet kitty which I intend to procure once I go back to NM.

7. What date(s) from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

I don't remember particular dates, but... I'll remember all of January because of my Ireland/UK trip, June because of the awesome Yucatan voyage, and the first day of teaching in a classroom setting, which was sometime in June. The biggest date in particular, though, is probably May 22, because I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Whittier College. :)

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Getting accepted to have the job I did, and living out there on my own, even if it's not what I expected it to be.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Trumping my anxiety. Or at least finding ways to handle it better so that it doesn't affect my happiness and my relationships. I changed to a new med just after the middle of the year, but it hasn't really helped me handle any better. I'd love to finally be in a place where I can kick the trichotillomania.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Mentally and emotionally, with what my classroom experience did to me.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My lovely dark gray Prius! :D

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

My friends for being supportive when I needed them. :) And my mother 'cause she always rocks no matter what shit is going down.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Someone's who I'll probably never see again, so it doesn't matter, now, does it? XD

14. Where did most of your money go?

Traveling, I think me... Traveling the UK for a month on your own is expensive. But I also spent a fair deal of money on Lolita and other costuming nonsense.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Was super-jazzed about Ireland and Mexico, and ecstatic about graduation.

I WAS really excited about TFA, and I was excited while I was at Institute.

16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2009?

"Skinny Boy" by Amy Millan, because it's a solitary, melancholy song that reminds me of driving down the road in Zuni.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. Happier or sadder?
Sadder. That will change with the New Year.

ii. Thinner or fatter?
I weigh almost the same, but I'm thinner than I was in January... weird body!

iii. richer or poorer?
Richer, surprisingly... Though going from being an absolutely-broke college student to a nearly-broke teacher... hehe. XD

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Spending time exercising.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Hair-pulling. And sitting alone when I wish I'd had the strength to get up and find somebody to talk to.

23. How many one-night stands?

Uhhhh... What happens at War, stays at War. ;P

24. What was your favorite TV program?

Kuroshitsuji, a.k.a. Black Butler, my new anime love. <3

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

I like a few people less than I should wish.

26. What was the best book you read?

In the middle of reading "Lamb" and I freaking love it... "Clockwork Heart" was also pretty awesome.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Feist and Amy Millan. I get so much new music all the time, but these two I'm in love with and have been since probably July.

28. What did you want and get?

The TFA job... my Prius... books and TV shows... lots of material things.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?

Sherlock Holmes, actually! It was pretty, and delightful, and humorous. I also loved Zombieland, and The Hangover.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I turned 22. I was on vacation in Mexico, in Cancun, having a lovely day with Mimi, Fred, and Alicia. We had dinner in the best Mexican restaurant evar.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?

Full of quirk, lace, big jewelry, and sock garters. :D

34. What kept you sane?

Friends, and music.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Oh goodness... I don't know.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

Gay rights is always a hot button issue no matter the year... I came out to a lot of people this year and I consider that a political move among others. :D

37. Who did you miss?

EVERYONE IN CALIFORNIA.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

Maya, my friend in TFA. She rocks and we complain together a lot!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2000.

"Real" life does not let you be as optimistic as you were in college.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

Cannot think of one off the top of my head, sorry!
