Mmmm... well, first off, I have no clue about all of this martial arts jargon, and as such, my first thought upon seeing both swords was 'the brown one is prettier'. XD I don't know if that stuff about the commie government is true or not, but my personal tastes, immediately after seeing them both, was that the 'Southstar' hilt was a lot more natural. Of course, again, I am the farthest from having any experience or knowledge with weapons of any sort unless you're talking about exacto blades or metal rulers, so.... yeah. Also, personally, I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. X3 I swear, our culture is seriously fucked in the head as far as logic goes when it comes to 'tradition' and all that crap about pride and elitism and the 'privileged class' versus the majority. And yes, I'm terribly judgemental when it comes to 'my own'. >_> :: coughs :: Anyways, your review was actually really easy to understand, and I suppose (if my memory cooperates) I can now say I know something about chinese swords. X3 And not to touch ( ... )

I'm glad you found the review easy to understand; that was actally one of my goals when writing this. I didn't want people to wonder what the hell I was talking about when putting this up. :-P Also, I can see why your vote goes for Southstar; overall it was a better designed sword. I still love Northstar though; it was, after all, my first really decently crafted weapon, and um... well I like black. :-P It was still well constructed, and wouldn't be a bad choice at all for someone wanting a decent jian, even without the locking sheath. Most swords don't have one anyway, and it would teach people not to needlessly mess around with the thing. Still, for those who can afford it (and they should be able to), the Southstar is probably the better choice for them ( ... )
