You are missed, but I certainly understand the desire to withhold certain personal information from a public forum.
I hope you're well. I recently road-tripped out to Pittsburgh and back (about nine and a half hours each way) and definitely enjoyed some good music on the way, thanks to you.
I've had the good fortune of meeting many people on my friends list who I like so it would be difficult to scale it down (although I'm gonna need to do some more cleaning in the near future).
As a personal preference of my own, I'll keep the more intimate details of my life out of the journal altogether. This includes keeping my journal a secret from anyone I meet here in St. Louis. Dating someone with a LiveJournal as well hasn't been a good thing for me in the past and recent past.
I love reading your journal when you can capture the joy, surprise and truth that you find in your life. So often, you do. But if you're not finding joy in it, it's hard to argue that you should post more joyless obligated stuff just to fill pages. I hope, whatever you do, you find what you're looking for.
I respect where you are coming from because the same thing has happened recently to one of my LJ friends as well. At the same time, I do miss your posts and have wondered how you are. Besides, I wouldn't buy any new music if I didn't gain those tidbits from you.
I hear what you're saying, Cory, believe me. It's no consolation but I'm pretty much the same way out just lately too, to the point of starting and then deleting entries just because it all seems too mundane to write up.
I miss your deadpan humour on here, I know that - but it is hard to jazz up 'just making do' to anything more substantial, isn't it?
Maybe cutting back the friends list is a way to go if you feel restricted, or setting up one of those 'friends group' filters for more private thoughts. That all seems a bit faffy to me, but then I don't actually know any of my LJ peeps in 'real life' in the way you do.
*big hug* to you for now, anyway. I want to see you surface more often! : )

Take care, pal. See you 'round.

I'm okay. I just hope to have something interesting to drone on about this semester since I'll be in class 4 nights per week.
