Doctor Who, 501 - The Eleventh Hour

Okay. Okay. Now that I've had time to gather my thoughts, and I'll be honest, gather up crazy picspam material, it's  time for a reaction post / episode picture spam.

Some basically non-spoilery general emotions first.

I'm still on the fence about the new theme. Not sure I like the new Tardis interior either.

Personally I don't see why people are so gung ho over the entire new theme thing. I mean, who cares what it's like, I hardly noticed it had changed. It's not like we watch the show for the opening credits.

Tradition, I suppose. Then again, I didn't really care for the theme under Davies either.

The opening theme is supposed to carry the tone of the show, it's 'tude, if you will.

Look at Star Trek. TOS was about exploration. TNG had a certain majesty to it. DS9 was about war. Doctor Who is about travel and lonliness and a wacky alien. There's supposed to be this certain alienness to the theme that Moffat's doesn't really have.

I'm going to learn to like everything, I think. I was raised Lutheran, so by definition I want to be stuck in my ways. I expended all my open-mindedness on Matt Smith (LOVE him!) and the new TARDIS interior (it's... really cool...) and the new opening credits (oh... lightning is... good...) and the new sonic screwdriver (um, oh... it's green, huh?) and I just can't make room in my poor shrivelled fangirl heart for Amy right now. Especially since her entire acting technique seems to consist of staring at things with round eyes. But I thought her dialogue was good and the stripping scene was actually quite funny, so I'm sure it won't take me long to warm up to her. I'm a hardcore Ten/Rose shipper, I admit it, so I'm... I'm working on it. I don't want to be close-minded. In fact, I was initially really fond of her until I started seeing Karen Gillan in interviews and she seemed kind of... hateful. But I'll come back around
