I haven't had a chance to read the article yet, but there's a lengthy discussion of it over here if you're interested and have some time to kill (and maybe some hair to pull out).

it was generally a really well-written article and it felt accepting and genderqueer-friendly, then they end with the quote from the guy who's anxious to get on T and move forward with surgery to avoid the jeers of his transman peers - that felt really shitty to me. like it set the whole tone for the article with, what *I* feel, is a reason some people transition in the first place (butches now being "low man on the totem pole" of masculinity). ugh, i'm probably going to be out on a lonely limb with that statement, but there ya have it. i guess more than the topic of the article itself, the transmen at women's colleges, i felt like it was a piece educating people on transgender in general, and the last quote made it sound like something that is only done because of peer pressure.
not enough coffee yet - maybe i can make more sense a little later in the day...

I don't know, I don't think the article was very well done. It did little to actually address the issue of FTMs at women's colleges. There was really no need to get into any kind of detail about the actual transition process, especially regarding surgeries and genital changes, except for sensationalism. The focus on some kind of trans hierarchy also seemed to have little to do with the issue at hand, as well, but was mentioned more than once in the article.
