I may have just inadvertantly both shut down a chemicals plant in Germany and cost my company a hell of a load of money.

Oh the joys of a new job.

I shall not bore you with the details but essentially the new girl should not be left alone in the office to make huge decisions.

Alas, I was. And I am willing to accept blame for the situation.

When I did my year out I remember a colleague telling me how he had once forgotten to put any fuel in a very important space satellite. The shuttle went up and came back down and so did the satellite. Much to the fear of those sunny themselves on a beach somewhere or another.
It was well publicised at the time (I remember it well) as being a 'technical fault'. He found it most amusing. Mind it wasn't his millions which had just crashed on a beach.

My point is, if he, well known in space engineering could forget to put any fuel in a ship then don't worry about it too much.

Um. Possibly that was no help whatsoever :/ At least you are willing to accept responsibility if indeed you did what you said (maybe you didn't).

Hehe.
That made me giggle a little.
Turns out I was over-reacting.
I spoke to my customer today and although he wasn't happy he said delivery on Monday was fine.... he was even less happy when I had to inform him this afternoon that in fact the earliest he'd get it would be Tuesday morning.

But all of it was out of my hands, so I just tried to be nice and he seemed ok with it.

I keep my job for the moment :o)
