My fellow members!
It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that I welcome you tonight. And now I invite you to relax, have a drink in the lounge, as the mods of the saiunpornium & saiunkoku_fic proudly present - your writing challenge!

Ladies, it has come to my attention that there is a horrific drought in our fandom.
But, you say, we have so many talented, talented writers!
And I say to that, "YES! WE DO!"
But do you know what we could really use more of? (And I've done a highly scientific poll to determine this--I asked at least 4 friends, and they all agreed with me.)
That which we are lacking in is, what some may define loosely, as : SMUT.
Yes! We, as a fandom, do not have nearly enough sexy!tiems going on in our fanfic. For shame!
This needs to be rectified immediately! Are you with me?
(I'm going to assume you haven't clicked away from this yet and am imagining you all screaming a resounding, "OH GODS, BABY, YES, YES, YES! UNF!")

In Q&A format!
Q: moor, what (the hell) is this about?
A: A low-pressure (sexy!) writing challenge who's only goal is to share the love of love in Saiunkoku Monogatari.
Q: Ok.... So the details?
A: This is a joint writing-challenge this summer b/w saiunkoku_fic and the saiunpornium !
In short, it is a blatant free-for-all, in so many, many delicious ways, so let's have a really fun time with this! You know you want to!
- Post your requests as individual comments (anonymously, if you'd like) to THIS specific post in the saiunkoku_fic comm; this will help everyone see / keep track of the requests!
- Anyone who wants to write the responses/fics to those prompts can (anonymously, if they'd like to keep it a secret) write 'taken!' to the comment.
- Then post the fic to (or link to it from) the appropriate comm when you're done. (Anything M/R/NC-17 should go to the porn-yum [saiunpornium ], everything else can go to the saiunkoku_fic -- or both, if you're so inclined!)
- Please put the post under an LJ-cut if you're writing anything higher than a T-rating! ;)
- NOTE: You can make your requests anonymous or not, and you can post 'taken!' as anonymous or not -- it's up to you. ;)
Q: Are there any rules?
A: Yes, but not very many:
The only rules!
- if you're going to make a request, please choose a comment to write for in return! (This challenge will only work if there's give & take!)
- minimum of 150 words for each response-fic
- you can make multiple requests!
- you can accept / write response-fics for multiple requests!
- you can write for requests other ppl have already replied to -- the more the merrier!
- please make all requests by July 31, 2011!
- please post all fics to the appropriate comm (or links to the appropriate comm) by September 15, 2011!
Q: Why the deadlines?
A: Because we will be voting for our favourites at the end of September, to wrap up our summer of (hopefully depraved!) fun! Let's reward everyone for their naughty behaviour! ;)
The winners will get to choose from one of the following prize options: to the top 3-4 (depending on participation / #s / the health of my bank account at time of prize-allocation):
- 1 volume of the English-language manga
- 1 Chinese or Japanese bento cookbook (language will be English)
- Japanese / Canadian treat goodie-bag (food! yum!)
- 1 surprise goodie bag of naughty things from one of the nearby Adult Shops (if you're *very* daring!)
+ origami from beyondthemoor , as a personal thank-you for all participating!!
(**cost for the goodie bags / cookbook will be roughly equivalent to the cost of one volume of manga**)
Q: I don't know what to ask for! What should a prompt / request look like?
A: Anything you want! You can add a pairing (or threesome/moresome!), you can name a kink, you can give a rating, you can write a scenario and ask how you think someone else would have it play out, you can make it Saiun-verse or AU (whatever AU you'd like!), anything your heart desires. Dub-con your thing? Ask for it!
I would add that if there is something you are *quite uncomfortable with*, add a squick-disclaimer (ie: "squicks: no desecrating Shouka's corpse on his wife's grave, while vampire-mermaid Seiran & wizard-belly-dancing Ensei go at it with swordplay", etc...)
... I admit, that's a very particular description of a squick, but you get the idea -- if there's something you *don't* want to see, just say so. ^_^Y
Q: I'm not very good at writing pr0n -- but I want to participate!
A: This is completely low-pressure -- trust me, I'm terrible at writing this stuff too, but I keep trying anyway! (And keep inflicting my poorly written smut on the masses in the meantime -- those poor, poor masses...)
If you're looking for someone to bounce ideas off, or if you'd like a beta, drop me a line and I'm more than happy to help! :D It doesn't need to be explicit -- if you'd rather start off with UST, or insinuation / implied / innuendo / not directly mention sex but allude to the fact that it happened/is the root of what's going on in the fic, DO IT! (Sometimes those are sexier, imho! It's about anticipation / build-up and release, and all kinds of other things in between, and before & after.) Don't feel like it needs to be graphic if you're uncomfortable with writing something graphic -- it can be silly, crack, sensual, erotic, smut, pr0n, whatever you want to read, and whatever you want to write. It just needs to be sex-related. Seiran giving Ryuuki 'the talk' for the first time on his wedding night, and Ryuuki taking away the wrong meanings? Kouyuu's first trip to an all-male review? Het? Yaoi? Shonen-ai? Yuri? Go for it! :D The point is to try, and to have fun. ;)
Or, if you really are uncomfortable writing, let me know if you'd be interested in beta'ing for others, or if you'd have a few free minutes to help me mod, in the evenings! I would love to have some help with this challenge! (I will be away for a week in August, so help at that time will be much appreciated.)
