Character History:
This version of Trunks lived in a hellish world, where humanity had been reduced to mere tens of thousands and psychotic, superpowered androids ran amok. The Z fighters - Goku, Vegeta, and everyone else - had all been killed, the Dragonballs disappearing with them, with Gohan and a young Trunks being pretty much the only warriors left. They trained hard, hoping that they'd become strong enough to defeat the androids. Unfortunately Gohan died during one of their encounters, leaving Trunks with the burden of saving the world (and enough angst and anger to turn into a Super Saiyajin). But even with the power-up, Trunks still couldn't defeat them. His mother Bulma came up with the idea of going back in time to change history: keep the Z fighters from dying, and destroy the androids before they were activated. So the time machine was built, Trunks went back in time to warn the fighters of the past, and returned to his own timeline afterward.

The end? Not quite. This is where things get iffy, because time travel sucks like that.

Trunks not only fails to change his own history, but also spawns at least two other timelines that exist separately from the others - so, as far as his original goal was concerned, the time jump was totally useless since there's no way to actually change one's history. And if that wasn't enough, a third monstrous android named Cell from one of these alternate timelines shows up, steals the time machine and travels back into the past of the soon-to-be Main-Storyline timeline, where both the (forewarned) Z-fighters and the two other androids are still alive. (Cross-eyed yet?) He then proceeds to wreak merry, nightmarishly bloodless havoc on the Main-Storyline timeline until he is inevitably defeated.

This version of Trunks destroys the androids of his timeline, but is killed by Cell for his time machine.

Personality:
Trunks is a nice, caring, and (considering who his parents are) remarkably quiet and polite young man. He has very little of Vegeta's pride and arrogance, but enough of the man's passion and fury to remind people that nice guys aren't always wimps. He's very serious-minded and adamant about his priorities (which, until of late, has been keeping the remnants of humanity alive and holding the Androids at bay), and is usually level-headed and pragmatic. His strong sense of honor is commendable, even if it may cloud his better judgment. Though he socializes well enough, he can be too serious and shy for his own good. Trunks has a healthy respect for his elders, assertive women (likely drilled into him by his mother) and living things, and is less enthusiastic about fighting than other Saiyajin (except maybe Gohan). However, he's not averse to a little sparring; after all, he is partly Saiyajin.

Extra:
Character Abilities:
Thanks to his Saiyajin blood and the hellish conditions of his timeline, Trunks has superhuman strength, agility, speed, stamina, power and overall fighting ability. He also heals faster than the average human, and has a keen sense of smell. He's a proficient unarmed / martial-arts style combatant, though he occasionally fights with a broadsword. Like all the worthwhile fighters of Dragonball, Trunks can sense and manipulate ki/energy - he can channel his energy into flight and destructive bursts of force and light. Because he is half-Saiyajin he is also able to ascend to "Super Saiyajin", which makes him powerful enough to take out an entire planet on his own. However, since this version of Trunks apparently never trained in the Room of Spirit and Time, he didn't reach the level that Main-Storyline Future Trunks achieved (somewhere between SSJ 1 and SSJ 2).

Trunks has inherited some of his mother's smarts, though not as much of her fascination with machinery and technology. He has developed some mechanical and technological skills from helping Bulma with the time machine. As with all Saiyajin, pure-blooded and half-blooded, Trunks has an unusually large appetite. On a normal and uneventful day, he eats for two large men. Before or after a fight, he can eat for six. Because of the difficulties of his timeline, he's used to consuming less, and doesn't have to eat so much everyday. One big meal is usually enough to last him a few days without combat or rigorous activity.

Possessions: He has his broadsword, a set of his world’s trademark Capsules (two of which hold extra clothes and a refrigerator; Cell stole his time machine), and a watch that doubles as a digital topographical map of his world

Anything else: Every now and then, Trunks may go over his points limit for food, but he’s not exactly the type to mooch off of or steal from someone unless it were a matter of life and death.
