I was gonna make my return a massively huge meme-post, with a whole lot of stuff about Doctor Who and Torchwood as well, but I kept not doing any memes and I still have them stored up in a file for memedrop posts when I feel more like it... but I wanted to talk about manga, because I said when I made this journal that that's what I was going to do

Re: One Piece - I was wondering what your take on the whole Amazon thing would be. I kinda had the thought that Hibehime looks a little like Xena, would you agree or not? And I agree with you on the whole lesbian thing going on with them, but they could be like the Nameks from DBZ - asexual. Oda IS a big DBZ fan after all. And there's already been a fic about an Onna Onna no Mi XDD I think I showed it to you once back a couple of years ago.

Re: Amazons - I think Xena's hotter than Hebihime. Much hotter. And dresses better. I'll have to think more about whether Lucy Lawless would look right playing her, though...
Parthenogenesis would allow them to be asexual, so, yeah, maybe. The fact that her Medusa trick works on them suggests they're gay, though... need to learn more about it before we can say anything for sure. (If you think she might be modelled on Xena, that's suggestive too.)
And I know there's fic about the Onna Onna no Mi, but I didn't think it could actually exist in canon, because men and women would have to be different species for it to be a Zoan. You could have a genderswitching fruit, but it would be Paramecia and wouldn't be named for a specific sex. But if you have an all-female, near-human species... then we have possibilities. XD

Re: Amazons - I forgot to tell you; up in Queensland there's a fake castle setting where you go around solving all the spelling clues and they had the ACTUAL throne from the Xena series. The owner of the castle apparently was over in New Zealand when they finished filming the series and bought it from auction.
And well, I actually thought that maybe Luffy was impervious to turning into stone because he's made of rubber. Kinda like a rock, paper, scissors type of thing or something, where rubber might beat stone because if stone ever squashed something made of rubber, it would just flatten it and the rubber would be able to squeeze out still in tact...if that makes any sense at all XDD sorry, I'm rambling.

The throne? Whose throne? There are a lot of monarchs and gods in Xena, after all...
Well, could be the rubber thing - not because of being squashed, but because it's hard to freeze something so flexible...? I dunno, I feel like the Marine who survived should be some kind of clue as to why Luffy did, and if it's that, there's no connection.
