> Sai: Fall in love with new troll album

Mar 16, 2011 01:40

So I'd been meaning to post since AI-Con finished, just check in, maybe drop a link to the best webcomic in existence (although it seems a couple of you are already reading it XD), but I couldn't quite muster myself to post. And then I came home tonight, decided I felt like putting on some of the soundtrack while pulling up my bookmarks... and ( Read more... )

Oh geez. Seems everyone either loves or hates Homestuck these days. I read a part of it some time back, and I don't see what the big deal is.

Also, I never thought I'd see the day when you used ^-^.

By "a part", do you mean "a random bit with Vriska in it"? (Whose name I absolutely approve of you going by on Steam, btw, I didn't mention that, did I? Cos as unwilling as my love for her is, she has become, well, kinda awesome...)

And the big deal is that it pretty much has everything. But, oh, you'll be allergic to the pesterlogs, won't you? Bugger. ...go listen to the track I linked anyway, though, I want you to hear why I am amused.

As for the ^-^, I just randomly felt like using it.

I read from the start of act 5 up through Gamzee going batshit before I got tired of the tl;drs and haven't gotten back to it since.

Anyway yes I will give it a listen.

I've seen Homestruck before (thank you fandom secrets) and tried it out once. Couldn't quite get the concept of it though. The only real webcomics I read are XKCD and Penny Arcade (which kinda counts).

*picks random track to listen to* Hmm, not bad. Ok, what's this awesomeness you speak of in the first track. *listens* Same electronic thing going on...wait, timey-wimey what?! *goes back* OMG!

Now, how the hell did they ever get the rights to include Ten's voice in there? Let's hope the BBC doesn't sue them or something. That was awesome. :D

Birthday coming up, you say? Any big plans?

Er, that's "stuck", no "r". The idea being it's partly a parody of Earthbound... How far'd you get? Cos it doesn't really start to come together until the end of the first act, and I don't think my favourite characters actually start poking their heads in till act 3...

I fully approve of xkcd-love, though! It's probably my second favourite at the moment, though I'm massively far from caught up, I'm doing a reread and then I'll catch up from there. I love it to bits, though! "I'm from the internet. I'm here to paste captions to your cats."

Same electronic thing going on...wait, timey-wimey what?! *goes back* OMG!

LOL. I listened to it without knowing it was coming, too, and I was like "HOLY CRAP WHAT?!" For a bit of context, there are a LOT of temporal shenanigans going on in HS, and the character that track was written for is actually the Maid of Time, so, yeah. Hence the timey-wimey. XD ( ... )

Sorry, not entirely sure where the r came from. Reminds me of the discussion I had recently with my mother of the correct way to pronounce "epitome." I think I just read Homestuck as Homestruck and forever read it that way....until you corrected me. :)

I've actually never heard of Earthbound and never got far in Homestuck. I tried it out for about five minutes, didn't understand what the hell it was (still don't), and then left it out. Now, what exactly is it? An online, text-based RPG or something?

I particularly liked this one of xkcd myself. Oh coding... sigh. (And this one pretty much sums up my sleeping habits at the moment.)

Love the timey wimey. *sighs*

I love both of your birthday plans/ideas; they both sound awesome (BARROWMAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!). Makes me think that I've got a little less than three months to plan for mine. Unfortunately, nothing awesome like BARROWMAAAAAAAAAAN!!!! happens in the States. I hate being stuck here....

Yeah, epitome is a weird, weird word...

No, I didn't expect you'd have heard of Earthbound, it's the American version of an old Japanese RPG (not text-based, it's, erm, do you know anything about JRPGs? Final Fantasy or anything?), I just mentioned it to give context to the comic's name. And, yeah, five minutes won't get you far enough to know what's going on. Basically, HS is about John (the nerdy-looking character you would have seen) playing a game with his friends over the internet - only the setup idea is that there's an unseen "player" of Homestuck (which was originally done by reader suggestions, because that's how all the previous MSPA comics were written, but now it isn't) giving the characters commands. And the game-within-the-comic actually affects their real lives within the comic and it all just gets better and weirder as it goes on, and there are meteors and bisexual aliens and demons and Elder Gods and characters becoming gods and lots of timey-wimey and the best system of alien romance I've ever seen ( ... )
