My Return to Analysis

I hope I have the brainpower to write this and make it somewhere close to complete. I should have been in bed 45 minutes ago, but fuck if my brain isn't buzzing and keeping me awake. Writing this will either exacerbate the situation or calm me down. I have no idea which one yet ( Read more... )

It's the old addage that comes into play here: Ignorance is bliss. You and I are two of many who are too smart for their own good. We're smart enough to know and understand the reality of life and that has made us cynical. It sucks.

I can't give you any advice or anything you could possibly "buy into". You're too smart for that. The only thing that's ever made sense to me is that I'm my own limitation. And believe me, to follow along with your basketball metaphors, I just can't seem to sink that fucking free throw.

Jesus fuck, I'm Shaq!

All I can say is that at some point, you're going to need to allow yourself to take that leap of faith. Will you be ready to? Probably not. It's like jumping in a pool that's cold. You're never ready, but once you've done it, it's ok.

See this is the kind of advice that I can get behind and be inspired by. This is the stuff I buy into because it's wholly objective and realistic. It's not any candy coated bullshit that'll make the average person get all happy and consolable. This is why you're the most irreplaceable friend of mine.

I'm definitely honored to know that. The whole thing, that it's helpful advice and the last bit. Thank you. :) You're the same for me, too. (bleh, I'm no good at the mushy stuff but you know what I'm getting at and that's the only thing that matters.)

Also, here's another nugget of truth for ya:
Once you take that leap of faith, it could definitely be devastating and unpleasant. More than likely, it will be. But, it will end up being the best thing you ever did but you won't realize for a while.

See on an objective level this 2nd nugget is something that I can imagine works out fine. Yet I don't have the full mindset yet to truly grasp the ins and outs of the "best thing you ever did" sentiment. I want to believe it. There's some solid truthy elements to it but I can't internalize buying into it without some fresh positive reinforcement. Which oddly enough should come from nugget #1 you posted earlier.
