Yoruichi comes for a visit.

No warnings, just talking.

Yoruichi walked up to Shunsui's with a smile on her face. She wasn't happy about what she had to do, but she was excited about what was going to happen in just a few short days, or hours or whenever Kisuke decided to give her a call. With a quick knock on the door, she tried to stop herself from smiling. She didn't need to walk in with that smile to tell him that she made a mistake.

Shunsui opened the door with a curious look on his face, quickly replaced with a smile as he saw who it was. "This is the second time this week my night has been brightened by you. Come in, come in." He stepped back, pulling the door open with him to let his guest inside.

"Hello, Shunsui," she said, walking inside. "I have something important to say and I hope you don't hate me because of it. I don't think you'll be that upset, but you might. I don't know. I should stop talking. Hello, Shunsui."

He raised an eyebrow at her, giving her a smirk. "Well I think whatever you have to say could at least wait until we sit down." He laughed a little bit and made his way to the kitchen, coming back with two glasses of water.

Yoruichi slipped off her shoes and sat down on her favorite chair, smiling at her stupidity as well as Shunsui's laugh. "Oh, water, thank you," she said as she took a glass from him and downed half of it. As she calmed down, she put the glass on the table in front of her. "How has your week been?"

He sat down, smiling at her standard choice of seating. "It's been alright... it's had its higher and lower points." He shrugged, taking a sip of the water and setting his glass down. "And yours?"

"Better than last week." She took a deep breath. "Shunsui, I'm sorry. I talked to Kisuke... You don't really want to be with me. I think you're better off without me. Everything I said was true, though. You believe me, right?"

He laughed a little bit and shook his head. "You just couldn't wait to tell me, could you?" He picked up his glass again, taking another sip of water, this time resting the glass on his leg after the drink. "I expected the small talk to last a few more minutes until we got around to it."

Yoruichi smiled and lowered her head. "Sorry... It's just that I've been waiting for a while to say that, well, ever since Sunday or Monday or whatever time it actually was. But if you want some more small talk, then you look nice today." She raised her head to smile at him only to look at him a little confused. "Wait, did I tell you what I wanted to talk about? Or are you just psychic?"

He shook his head, both at her proposal of small talk and her question. "You didn't tell me, and I'm not psychic. But you are acting differently, especially during the last few minutes. Besides," he shrugged, "whenever a beautiful woman says 'Shunsui, we need to talk' it usually works out like it just did."

"Oh, well, thank you for saying I'm beautiful." She sat there smiling. It was easier to just spit it all out. Her momentum was ruined, so to speak. Yoruichi openly shrugged and took a deep breath. "I don't think I was ever fair to you. You humored me though. You're too nice. I liked everything that has happened between us, well, except for the awful stuff I did to you, and I never said anything I didn't mean. So, everything I said before was the truth and I think I'll always feel that way about you, but I...I just feel more for him. I'm sorry."

"You're speaking like I treated you like someone I tolerated. If you expect me to believe what you said to be the truth, don't act like what I said was just 'to humor you'." He finished off his water and set the glass on the table. "And stop apologizing; you've nothing to apologize for."

Her eyes turned away from him. "It wasn't, but you were always nicer than you should have been. No one can be that ni- No, you can be that nice. Everything you did to me was fantastic. And why can't I apologize?" Yoruichi brought her eyes back to him and smiled. "I have everything to apologize for. I... I don't know. You're too nice, but I'm glad you are."

"Too nice?" He chuckled a little bit, looking up at the ceiling. "I've been getting that a lot lately..." He let out an exaggerated sigh as he looked back at Yoruichi. "And you can't apologize because I don't want to hear an apology from you." He leaned an elbow on the armrest of his couch and his head on his hand. "No... I want something far better than an apology."

Yoruichi took a deep breath. "It's probably because it's the truth. But what? I'll do anything to make it up to you. Anything at all. I just don't want to leave you angry, even though that would be easier. I know how to respond to anger. Or maybe I don't."

"Do I look angry with you? You hardly have anything to worry about. What I want..." Shunsui moved his elbow to his knee, resting his chin on his hand in the classing 'thinker' position. "What I want from you... is for you to be happy. You've made it clear you'll be happy with Kisuke, and I'm happy for you. Keep it that way. If you're ever not happy, then he doesn't deserve you, and I just might have to correct the situation." He smiled as he spoke, his voice friendly.

Yoruichi shook her head. No, he was certainly not angry with her and she hoped he wasn't disappointed with her either. "Yes, yes, I can do that. I'll be happy with him. I want to be happy with him." The small smile she wore grew into the size it was before she knocked on the door. "I hope he always makes me happy. I'm thinking he will. Correct the situation?"

"Yes. If he doesn't deserve you, I know I do. But I have no doubts in his ability to keep that smile on your lips."

Yoruichi got off the chair and quickly moved over to Shunsui to throw her arms around him, hugging him tightly. "Thank you. This is just one of the reasons I fell for you. You are the greatest guy and you need to find someone that deserves you. I'll help you. Kurenai! I'll talk to Kurenai. Or I'll find someone. That is, if you'd also like to be my friend."

"Nothing in the world could tear away our friendship." He laughed a little bit as he returned the embrace, both at the sudden hug and at her offer.

"That's the one thing I really wanted you to say." Yoruichi leaned back, placing a small kiss on his cheek. "Thank you." She leaned back more and moved herself away from him, sliding down the couch a little. "So... I can either leave you alone or we can have some of that small talk."

"We can have some of that small talk. We're friends, you're a guest, no reason to kick you out as if you were neither." He smiled, the feel of her lips remaining on his cheek even after she pulled away. Inwardly, he sighed. Two amazing women in one night... maybe Yoruichi was right. He was too nice sometimes.
