Feedback Magic

Let me tell you a little story about the magic powers of feedback. Seriously, let me.

So, last night, I dragged myself out of my dad’s old TV chair after zapping through the stations for twenty minutes (ten of which were actually spent on one of those Funny Home Videos shows), having decided on calling it an early evening and going to bed before midnight for once. I stopped for a last glass of water, told the turtellinis good night and wondered if I should check into LJ one last time to see if I got any more comments on that last ficlet I posted. I was feeling unsure about it because I haven’t written anything in a while and was so very pleased with and grateful for the first comments I’d already gotten on it. Nevertheless, I still felt a bit wishy-washy about getting back into fanficcing and wondered if there were a couple more comments already that would make the scale tip and leave me fic!xited and motivated to write more.

So, I did check in one last time (thank you, LJ app) and additionally to one more nice comment, I had a PM waiting for me. “Hello, PM!” I said, and clicked it on my way to bed. What it was, was the most amazing, wonderful kind of feedback from someone who, as usual, was being way too generous with her praise. But it blew me away.

You know what I did? I fired up the coffee machine, tucked some chocolate under my arm, booted up the notebook again and wrote another fic. Start to finish within like, one or two hours tops. (It will be posted in a minute.)

If you like it, you’ll have to thank pet0511 for it.

Feedback is a powerful thing, guys. If you liked a story, let your authors know. Give them some magic. <3
