The photos are far-ranging, aspiring to cover life from before conception til death.

My parents had this book! Everyone had this book :) Such fantastic photographs, such an optimistic vision.

Almost everyone. Over the years, I've given copies as presents to folks who didn't know about it until I loaned them my copy.

It was optimistic, cautiously, I suppose, but still hopeful.

Oh, I remember this book. I read it back in the 70's, I think.

That's when I first saw it, too, although it had been in print since the mid-50s. I liked the quotes they chose.

It seemed to come into our store with the big self-awareness wave in the last 70's. They were very good.
