I have long been an exponent of the life enhancing properties of tea (mmm tea...) but had thought that its cultural significance, here in the UK, had long since waned. The international coffeehouses are ubiquitous on the high street.  So  I was pleased, and a little amused, to see that an enquiry from an American on the tea making / drinking habits ( Read more... )

Having gone and hunted down that post, I'm confused... do Americans still boil their water on the stove or something? Aren't electric kettles fairly standard?

Yeah apparently, in the main, they still use the stove, but I'm certainly no expert about our American buddies kitchen appliance preferences. ;) There is a LOT of tea drinking in Sherlock fic and I've been brought up short on more than a few occasions by the whole stove thing.

Blimey, and I'm still wittering about tea!
