At first, this manga is similar to "La Corda d'Oro" in many ways: the main chara (Takami) is a clumsy girl with no confidence in her own musical abilities and completely unaware of her own "beauty". Then, comes the harem of (music inclined) guys who all drool over her. The main difference is that this manga is about the piano, rather than the violin. Also, the main male chara (Akira) is extremely different from the corda boys in more ways than one. Akira is in fact younger that Takami but somehow a thousand times more mature than her.
Bonus: Unlike Corda's infinite loop of guyXhino, this manga clearly has a winner for Takami's love .... (finally, not a dating-sims kinda thing :P)
Densha- Otoko
♥♥♥♥♥
Densha Otoko (Aka "Train Man") is not your typical run-of-the-mill manga. First of all, the layout of the manga itself is unorthodox as all the conversations are narrated either by emails or text messages. The characters don't have real names, as they all use screen names to communicate.
"Densha", the main male chara is a totaly geeky Otaku who has no clue how to act socialy. One night, while riding the train home, a drunk man staggers in the compartement were Densha is (along with 4 women) and starts to harass the women. Densha decides to protect the women and stands up to the man. Thus is born the legend of "Densha-Otoko" within the 2CH blogging network (which happens to eb a real blog, btw :P). Among the women that were there, a young woman about Densha's age insists on taking his info before they part. Not long after the incident on the train, the girl sends him tea cups as a "thank you" gift, which bears the logo of Hermès. Hence, the main female chara is referred to as "Hermès" among the bloggers. The rest of the manga goes on showing Densha's "evolution" and his relationship to Hermes along the way, with the help of the firendly bloggers of 2CH.
Personally, I adored this manga. I read the whole thing in one day because I couldn't put it down XD If you like "personnal growth" thingies and books that leave you with a feel-good feeling, then this is definitely the one for you ;)
Bonus: If you've liked the manga (as I did), there is a Drama that has been made which follows the same plot line as the manga :P I haven't watched it (yet) but I'm sure it's good :D
Bonus#2: Densha-san looks just like Canada-tan XD (In my humble opinion XD). Hermes-tan would (maybe) be Hungary-chan? :P
Red River
♥♥♥♥♥
Know all those crossing-over-to-another-world mangas & animes? Does Inuyasha ring a bell? Or maybe Fushigi Yuugi, Saiunkoku Monogatari and so many more? Well, this manga is RIGHT in there with the rest of it's kind. The heroine of "Red River" is Yuuri, a 15 y/o girl who lives in Tokyo, has a nice family, siblings & a love interest. One day, whiles tending to a flower vase, the water from the nearby aquarium sprungs to life and out comes an odd hand, who tries to grab poor Yuuri, but with no success. After that incident, Yuu-chan can't get close to water at all, by fear of being sucked in. Obviously, she gets caught by a random puddle when waking home with her love-interest, and is shipped of into ancient Egypt (sort of). There, she is pursued by a bunch of guards, who want to kill her (for some unkonwn reason) AND she doesn't understand a single word (Doesn't this strike a ressemblance with KKM?).
