DELUSION [ CHAPTER 11 ]

"...LEAVE AND GO HOME..."

“Can you see anything? Should I go closer?”

“Oh yeah sure by all means, go ahead and jump out in front of them, then we’ll celebrate together in jail...”

“Shut up Yuri.... Where’s the walkie-talkie? I need to speak to Inoo...”

“Yeah ask him to bring some donuts and coffee....oh yeah AND A LISENCE TO STAKE THE POLICE OUT!”

“Shhhhhhhhh!!!!”

Yuri slammed his head into the grass. Daiki lay next to him beneath a heavy bush, with his eyes behind a heavy pair of binoculars. He was scanning the windows on every building, hoping to catch a glimpse of anything helpful, or even Ryosuke himself.

Yabu and Takaki were opposite to them hiding behind a wall, they were doing a very good job at being invisible, with just Yabu’s head sticking out from the corner of the wall and Takaki’s beneath it.

“I don’t see anything....”

“Me neither....Ohh wait what’s that under the bush?”

“That’s Daiki’s binoculars Yabu...”

“Oh...okay....”

“Hey...is this thing working? Heloo.... where’d Inoo get this anyway?”

Takaki looked up. “That’s Yuto’s voice...”

“Its loud! Lower the volume! The walkie- talkie!”

“Takaki? Hey you there? Yuto here....was doing some research here with Keito....on the net...there are some strange things going on in this area....”

“Alright go for it...” Takaki lay against the wall and stared at Yabu’s who kept watch.

“Well....there are some drug dealings....but that gang was caught...and they caught each one...so...

“I’m sure Yamada’s not the drug type...” Takaki sighed and pushed away a bug on his shoulder.

“Yeah, I mean the only thing he could be addicted to is candy...”

“ Haha....nice on Yabu...yeah, I think that would  be obvious, they could run a blood test on him. No need for special Investigations. There’s another case involving a candy thief though...”

“He’s rich enough to buy his own candy...”

Yabu stared at the walkie-talkie. “What candy thief? Someone’s stealing candy?”

“Yeah I know...weird...there’s this thing in someone’s blog. Oh wait. This is weird, they said that the bus stop in their neighbourhood was covered in blood stains!”

“Eww...Yuto that’s growse....anything else?”

“Matte....Yuto...”

“What is it Keito?”

“That bus stop...isn’t it near Yamada’s neighbourhood?”

“Ehhh....yeah it is. But...”

“Keito...the only thing Yamada would do at a bus stop with blood is run...he’s scared of blood remember?”

“He is?” Takakai looked up at Yabu who moved closer to him as a police car passed by their hideout.

“Sure...I mean I am at least...”

“Yeah...Yabu’s right Keito...hey has Hikaru and Inoo contacted you guys yet? They said they were gonna try calling Yamada’s phone, and if that didn’t work, they wanted to try the station...”

“What? Are they insane? Directly the station?” Yabu whispered. Takaki rolled his eyes. “Perfect...”

“Listen, you guys have been there for almost two hours! Come back to my place, we’ll meet up here...wait..I got a message from Inoo....he says to meet up at Jimoushu...”

“But...it’s two in the morning; it’s supposed to be locked by now. How did he get in?”

“Well, If he texted them he must have found a way. Okay Yuto...we’re coming...”

“Hey Hikaru...How did you and Inoo figure out about the fire escape at the back?"
"Well... we actually spotted it... door to this floor was barred with some old furniture.."

The boys settled themselves on the sixth floor. The floor was the only abandoned floor in the building, and due to some minor reconstruction of its interior design, people had been asked to keep of the sixth floor. But the rule was obviously being ignored in this case.

As they sat in a circle with their equipments including laptops and cameras,  Yabu stared at Daiki who bought in a big plastic box.

“What’s in that?”

“Ohh...Food...drinks...and stuff...”

“Oh great now we’re in a survival mode...”

“Shut up Yuri...”

“You do know there’s a tick shop in the commercial lot opposite to this...and its 24 hours?”

“Really?”

Chinen rolled his eyes and collapsed onto some blankets Yuto had bought along with him.

“Daijobu Yuri...don’t worry so much....”

Inoo smiled and handed him a juice box. “This is the construction area. But they abandoned construction bout a month ago. After they fixed all the elevators, they just left...”

“Not all, there’s one that doesn’t work still...”

“Yes but we have about 12 on each corner of the lobby remember? So no problem there...” Yuto smiled.

“Yes correct Yuto, but you see that one elevator is not fixed because...well my opinion...it’s the only elevator now that still passes this floor, the other elevators don’t pass it...there’s no sixth floor on those ones remember? I think they did it to prevent everyone from accidently trodding upon this floor...”

“But...Hikaru...why would they want to avoid anyone coming to this floor? They hiding something here or what?  ” Daiki looked up from the pictures of the building he was going through.

“No silly... the construction here remember? It must’ve been dangerous...”

“Makes sense why we’re here...”

Everyone stared at Yuri, who silently recoiled back in hiding beneath the blankets.

“Inoo what are you doing?”

“Calling Yamada...”

“Is he responding?”

“No...Maybe I’ll just text him...”

“Okay...”

The silence on the floor was broken only by their typing sounds of the keyboard, or Daiki’s endless battle to open a biscuit box. Followed by Keito’s snoring, who dozed off in the blankets beside an already sleeping Yuri.  The floor was dark, the only light there was coming either from their electronic devices or the small amount of lights above them, which Hikaru had turned on from the power point of the floor. They didn’t dare open the lights near the windows, in case the security guards discovered their little hideout.

As dazed as they were in their work, everyone’s heart jumped as Inoo’s phone vibrated.

“Its from RYO! He has his phone with him.!”

“Really? What did he say?”  they quickly gathered behind Inoo to read the message.

“It says....hey thanks....but I don’t need your help....”

They stared in silence. Yabu stood up straight away from the rest. “ Are you sure that’s him..I mean could be the police replying for him...”

“They wouldn’t do that...” Takaki flopped beside the Keito and Yuri on the blankets.

“That’s not nice...he didn’t even say thank you for my text...”

“Wait Inoo what did you text him?” Daiki asked staring at Inoo.

“Urm... well I said asked him are you okay? Do you need any help?”

“Oh...okay...”

“Oh yeah and I told him we’re hiding out on the sixth floor of the building...”

Yabu stared. “Inoo.....why....what if those were the police?”

“Hey there’s another text....Leave and go home....”

Takaki grabbed the phone as Yabu sat on Inoo in despair. “Now what...”

“I don’t know...I’m not leaving...maybe he’s trying to be the good guy...but we’re gonna help him...don’t reply...just say, okay and take care or something...or never mind don’t reply at all...”

Takaki sighed staring at Inoo who fumbled to get Yabu off of him.

Hikaru  stared at them than woke the rest of the boys up. “We’ll come again tomorrow...it’s not safe to stay at a construction site at night anyway...”

“Abandoned construction site...”

“Yeah, that’s even worse. We’ll do this again tomorrow...”
