A Call for Writing Help

So I have finished writing my first story. Yay! This is the first time I have finished anything over 10 pages! Now it is time to revise. I am not talking grammar, switch a paragraph or two around and cut out another. You're going to get a lot of advice, and there's a lot out there to weed through. I'm here to tell you that you've already got the right idea. Just jump in and do it. When you're finished with a first draft, it's no where near ready to have other people picking it apart. They'll end up, unintentionally, making it into something it's not, something you didn't intend.

What you should do at this point is critique other people's work. It's the best way to learn to see it in your own. The more you learn from others, the better YOUR manuscript will be.

Thanks for the advice! I have high hopes of getting a writing group started this month. We'll have to see if it actually happens . . .
