Selling manga

Jun 15, 2009 18:55

Okay I'm intrested in selling off most my manga collection.   All the "titles" are atleast from 8 years ago and are the "original" US coverart.  Some of the series are complete some are not.  Most of the books are in good quality, some are not.  The question I have is, what is the best way/place to sell them for the largest gain.  Preferably on LJ ( Read more... )

My recommendation is to browse some eBay auctions for these manga series. The end price of the auction will give you an idea of how to price your manga. :D

Some of these will go for more, since they've been out of print. I would say asking about $50+ for the Sailormoon series, because its out of print in the US and none of the newly released ones in Japan have been recopyrighted so that could be your most expensive one.

For the others I know of, take a trip down to the local barnes and noble and see what series they're still selling.

Paradise Kiss is a rare find because it comes and goes out of print, or at least in my area it has.

But if they're still in store, and there are ALOT of listing on Ebay like the above poster stated, you're not going to get much for them. Well unless its the whole series, and then you decide how much you're going to charge taking into account value, condition of the books, how much pain its going to cost to separate from them :p, etc.

... I might be interested in buying Clover from you. XD I have no idea what they're worth though, I think I remember seeing them for about $15 a volume a while back (but I didn't buy them because the series was incomplete and the slipcover was torn on one of the volumes). It's pretty hard to find the English version of that series though... not sure about the rest of them but I think most of these are still in print, though probably in newer versions (like I know Viz used to put their manga out in a larger format and has since shrunk a lot of them down to a smaller size, but I don't know if the larger old editions are worth more or less or what). But I have to say... those titles make me feel pretty nostalgic! XD

If it turns out that you can't get anything for them or the series just aren't very popular, you could always consider donating them to your local library, I know a lot of libraries are looking for ways to draw in more teenagers so they might be interested. *shrug*

Awsome, Clover is a weird but very pretty series.

I'll have to find all of them, I think I have all 4 issues of Clover. I think they are in rather good condition (I think one or two has a very small tear in the slip covers, the paper was very very tearable). I'm going to collect these all on wensday.
