Ugh, I am a tad frustraited today.  I went to make my "brand" website, and realized that:

A: I havn't made a website in like 4 years

B: All the websites I have made prevoiusly have been done with pixel style graphics

My original idea involved basing the design on rotating illustrations featuring the current/soon to be dress/jsk release.   I'm not ( Read more... )

I prefer the second one. The other one is too simple and I kind of get bored about it's design from the first time I enter the website (except for the clothes, of course!) ♥!

Your beautiful pixel art is one of your unique talents so I think you should use it to your advantage. But I think it'd be better suited for accent rather than the pre-dominant art style. Maybe you should combine it with actual pictures of your sewing portfolio with a nice frame around it, and maybe some wordpress templates. XD

Ah, Flash websites. So nice and clean, such a pain in the a$$ to set up.

A pixel art-based web layout is cute for dolls and such, but I think it lacks a certain professional edge, because its so time-consuming and therefor impractical. A pretty border around photos or icons in pixel art would be cute, though.

Maybe something like the first one, but the emblem and buttons at the top could be pixels?

I agree with jeune_fleur! Although the first one is really clean and simple, it's maybe a bit too so.

Haha, If you did that drawing with "little practice" then you have some CRAZY natural skills. Really. My drawings don't even look half that nice, and that's with drawing classes still fresh on my mind XD

I think that you can make a really nice website with pixel art! Actually, a balance between your two thoughts is nice--graphic heavy but with drawings here and there.
