Man, I haven't even found a turn of phrase that I really like :/ Like, at least with Moby-Dick I keep finding passages I love (my current favorite is Ishmael's spiel about getting paid :>) but Ulysses has just been an exercise in getting through sections.
OH WELL. At least I get to talk to you on the phone :D :D :D
Well, Moby Dick is straight up fucking brilliant. I mean, I would probably think Ulysses is too, if I didn't constantly feel like I was being trolled. :T Or, like, if I actually gave a shit about what these dudes are doing. But I am told the last chapter is completely worth the struggle of the rest of the book, so I am inclined to stick with it!
It really is! I'm enjoying it greatly so thank you for the recommendation! :D
I like the idea of Ulysses (semi-modern retelling of the Odyssey) more than I like the actual execution :/ Maybe I'm not ~*high brow*~ enough to appreciate it but I'm with you in really not caring also I wish it was a tad easier to understand.
I'm fearful of the last chapter D: So many words, not enough punctuation.
I forget that it's even related to the Odyssey, maybe because it's been so so so so so so so long since I've read it, but also maybe because the adventure, for me, sits in actually digesting the words of the book instead of the characters and plot. Should probably refresh myself with it, anyway.
