Character Name: Mira Greson
Source Canon: Robotech Mospeda (Though OC)
Community Tag: Mira Greson
Notes:
I’m picking and poking at various points in Mospeda for her. Using the barebones basics for her mission suggestions.
Her upgrades are suggestions for ones that I would love to give her, but for now act like that section doesn't exist.
The
InvidEnemy mecha are as follows:
Invid Commander,
Invid Enforcer,
Invid Fighter Scout,
Invid Overlord,
Invid Scout,
Invid Shocktrooper,
Invid Soldier,
Invid Trooper Background:
Mira was born in
Monterey, California. While Mira came from decent money they were never around, her mother was a doctor with the REF and her father was a commanding officer. When she was young she studied music, guitar being her favorite. Mira was five when she received her first one, which she played until her fingers bled, let them heal and played it that much again. A guitar has been in her possession ever since.
She was twelve when the first wave hit. The family had already moved from California, to Georgia, so that her mother could work with the CDC to come up with better ways of dealing with space viruses. When the first wave of Invid hit REF family members were evacuated first, but the transports usually didn’t have enough room. Mira was in one of the last transports to leave when civilians had found out and entered the base trying to seek refuge.
Mira gave up her seat for a new mother and her infant, two people who weren’t even related to anyone in the REF, staying behind in the military base, despite the protests from the soldiers. The base was left with one unit of Cyclones, two Valkaries and enough support staff to keep the place running in hopes that the REF would send back up soon. Mira learned to stay low, hand weapons, and some hand to hand combat from the soldiers, with most of communications cut there was no safe way to get her to one of the bunkers and to safety. She lived with her choice knowing that it had been hers and no one else’s decision so she made sure she stayed useful, doing a lot of the work that the soldiers just didn’t have time for.
The young girl did most of her growing up on the battlefield, putting her music aside for the most part. Captain Toberu, the man who ended up as her surrogate father broke down on her fifteenth birthday and gave her the smallest Cyclone they had, figuring she could either try to make it to the bunkers if they still existed, or get as far away from the battlefields. Instead she figured out how to use the bike.
Mira acted as scout for the rest of the group when they moved from one place to another trying to take out Invid holdouts. When her job was done she usually retreated far enough that she wouldn’t get into trouble, learning how to hide in the brush, shutting the bike down completely to stay dark from Invid soldiers until the danger was passed. As soon as things were quiet she’d return to her colleagues to help them patch up the damage and keep the rigs going. Most of their mecha happened to be held together with a lot of luck and scraps found or fixed to fit from junked transports or cannibalized from fallen units.
Toberu’s command in the eight years they’ve been trying to reclaim Earth has dwindled to four unites as well as Mira. In that time Mira’s taken on music again, playing small places to get by, the others have been debating quitting and giving up, but Mira hasn’t yet.
Personality:
Mira’s a melting pot of messed up emotions. Her music is her coping mechanism to handle the life she chose when she looked into the eyes of a frightened young mother and her infant child and decided what many of the adults she had been placed with wouldn’t do. She sacrificed her safety for that of others. Her favorite crowd to play for are small children, she loves playing songs to give them hope and hopes that the music she plays at least gives them a small chance at being children, even if it’s just for a little while.
Since her decision she hasn’t looked back on it much, except when it’s hard to get strings for Lucifer, her acoustic guitar, or the rare occasion she feels the need for a drink. Mira is always willing to throw herself into danger to keep innocent lives safe than be stuck with the refugees as ‘dead weight’ against the Invid.
On the rare occasions she has to stay with refugees she uses her music to help calm not only herself, but everyone else around her with songs filled with hope for the future, and the urge to pick up a weapon and fight against the race that has overrun Earth. When she’s not working on keeping her unit and the machines of those she works with running, or her music she’s tinkering with small inventions, a set of amps that she’s nick named ‘Booms’ which are coded to her voice and the reason her unit has nick-named her and her Cyclone ‘SongSword’. In the camps she manages to make friends with people, keeping any of her battle tendencies stuffed down unless she has to resort to hand to hand combat to keep her safe. Her reasoning for this is she would rather have friends than enemies.
On the battlefield Mira is used to being on the front lines even if it’s not where her Captain wants her. She strives to make sure to bring all the men she travels with safely back to camp, even if it risks her safety. She doesn’t like the idea of leaving someone behind, partly because she was always left behind by her parents when she was growing up. This causes her to have some disciplinary problems, but since she’s still technically a civilian working with a military unit, as long as her calls don’t get anyone hurt Toberu allows her to shout orders. Most of the time she’s managed to come up with battle plans on the fly that have worked better than most recruits. Though she’s made it clear that she doesn’t want to follow the military path that her parents followed, she’ll play the game long enough to survive, but it’s not her life.
Mira will follow orders unless she feels the risk of lives are too great, which usually gets her into trouble because by her standards if there’s one civilian life risked, that’s one too many. This has caused her some disciplinary problems, though they usually get tossed to the side since officially she’s not military. And it’s not like her unit can risk taking her off duty as punishment, they need her to help keep them all safe.
Mira’s biggest fear is the ocean, she was young when the Invid’s first wave hit, not in the physical sense, but mentally she thought nothing was wrong until the ‘monsters’ rose from the depths. Even though it’s a childish fear to most of her unit they weren’t there when Savannah fell. She had been on the beach and they had bypassed her striking the city first, on their way inland towards Atlanta. Because of that Mira can’t stand being on the ocean. She’ll freeze up if she has to go near salt water, though flying above it in a plane is something she enjoys, probably because she feels the Invid troopers can’t take her down as easily (Boy is she deluded on that one)
Mira tries to be friendly at least to people, other techs are easier for her to talk to than most, partly because she can geek out as well as they can. In the rare occasion she allows herself down time she tends to go out into the ruins of the nearest city, and try to remember how people lived before the Invid. Her unit's equipped with some video equipment, which she uses to record these trips, she knows it would be a misuse of military property if the video's found out, but she figures no one would really care with how the world's gone to hell, again not like they could take her cyclone away from her. Until most of the REF returns there really isn't a country government, let alone a global one. Earth's run by bullies for the most part.
Capabilities and Resources:
Mira’s able to at least ‘quick fix’ anything that moves, small engines like those in motorcycles are her specialty, and cars are easier for her than plane engines. Her fixes with the Valkarie in her unit had been enough to get them into a hiding place so that the real mechanics of the group could fix it. She keeps tools in one of her saddle bags just so if there is a mechanical situation on the battlefield she can get to work.
She’s been used mostly as a scout with the military and has learned how to hunt and fish to keep the small group’s supplies up, because MRE’s all the time when you’re used to other foods before invasion, gets a little dull. Cooking over an open flame she does well enough at, but cooking in an actual kitchen is something she would rather stay out of.
Her tinkering skills have been trial and error for the most part. Most of her handmade gadgets are more geared for her musical interest being small amplifiers about the size of a golf ball. She usually keeps at least one or two in her pocket, just for impromptu concerts which she’s known for doing on occasion, if in a pinch she’ll crank them up as loud as they can go to use as a sonic grenade causing about ten minutes of hearing loss, enough to distract unarmored combatants at least.
Her battle tactics on the fly are usually changed on a whim, she’s good at coordinating battles even though she doesn’t think she is. Mira can calculate actions slightly faster than normal, might be from thinking quicker with the Cyclone unit since a younger age than most of the other pilots. She uses the ability to make sure that the team she’s with comes out with the least amount of damage.
Robot Name:
Song Sword (Cyclone VR-038)
Robot Description:
Official-ish bike stats and write up The ‘robot’ has two forms, the bike mode, which looks like a normal Harley
sportster painted mostly dark purple with black pin striping. She wears black riding leathers over her body armor which is a
dark grey and purple. Without this under armor the bike is unable to change into the hard suit mode.
The armor it’s self is body fitting, it’s primary function is to help create an electrical to mental link between the wearer and the unit it’s self. Secondary function is to protect the user of the Cyclone from the transformation sequence, wouldn’t want to be pinched by rotating robotic parts in the wrong places after all. Lastly it’s a hard armor, which can deflect small arms fire to a certain point, she can take on a few bullets, but laser fire will damage the suit, she tries not to test this aspect of the armor too much without the Cyclone wrapped around her.
The Cyclone itself in robot mode helps to boost her natural abilities without tiring her out as fast as if she was exerting the energy fully on her own. It’s primary function is to be used as a scout vehicle, though she isn’t known for retreating unless it’s clear that she is not needed (Usually meaning she’ll run interference for others if she sees that they need the assistance).
Weapons consist of a blaster which she carries on her at all times, and rockets hidden in the arm compartments (In robot configuration they’re in the arms, in bike mode they’re in the front engine panel, the engine actually being where the gas tank should be. Protoculture canisters are slipped into the modified saddlebag looking compartments that go over the back wheel.
She also has the night vision addition in the helmet built into the programming of the bike itself. Most of the system’s computers are pretty basic, though there is the pilot to machine mental interface which she’ll describe as a low hum in the back of her mind that she can ‘Think at’ to make the machine do what she wants with the same reflexes as her own.
Extra: The bike in bike mode has a hard metal case attachment that holds Lucifer, her guitar. Switching modes that case moves to the space between the tires on her back so it's out of the way of the jump jets.
Terrain Stats:
Land: A - It’s built for crossing large areas of land in little time frames. Engine maxes out at 200 kph bike mode, running speed’s her top running speed X 25%
Air: C -- with the jump jets she can hit about 60 kph
Sea: yeah not even going to try
Space: another yeah not likely without a little upgrade. She’d have limited mobility only being able to use her jump jets which would drastically eat up her power cells. Since protoculture’s hard to come by without attracting Invid she’d rather not test it.
Upgrades:
((She's not starting with these, but at some point I would love to give them to her!)) Another power source (Mini reactor or something along that line that can be stored in one of the 'leg' compartments) for the bike because really, the protoculture would be a pain to get in the game's format, it's rare to find a huge source of it in the series that isn't under control of the Invid. Though pretty sure something could be worked out on that front.
And maybe if possible work on finding a way to create an energy shield type thing for her, though I know that would put strain on both Mira and on the energy feed. (Maybe in one of the arms)
Both of which she has in the head canon I have for her, but we lack the man who helped her come up with them in game so I'm willing to keep her with the basics
Flagship Name: (Excuse me while I laugh here because really giving her a flagship is a BAD IDEA!)
Flagship Description: (Essentially the same as a robot description... except for a flagship instead. What abilities does it have? Does it have any special support capabilities? Is it intended to be used with specific units or kinds of units?)
Terrain Stats: (Same as above.)
Land:
Air:
Sea:
Space:
Upgrades: (if any)
Job: Musician (Paying gig), and when needed military scout / tech (if she's lucky she'll get paid in more than parts for this job).
Suggested Event List:
Lost city - a small town that has been ‘feeding’ invid any outsiders in order to keep existing. The town’s distrustful of everyone and will lure outsiders to the ‘island’ in the middle of the town where they trap them for the invid to destroy.
Genesis pits - A small valley with unnatural readings actually is an Invid research facility where they’re trying to figure out why Earth is the way it is. Man vs alien vs Woah was that a Dinosaur?
Mile high city - a trip to Denver encased in ice, the unnatural glacier’s perfectly preserved the city even though there are no inhabitants. Exploring the city the party is able to restock somewhat before the Invid attack.
