Vengeance

In the days following the destruction of Yubashiri, Zoro had expected Sandai Kitetsu to attempt to exert its influence over him further. Yubashiri had always been a mediating influence on the other blade - the tie-breaker, peace-maker. Without it, Zoro had been certain that Kitetsu would try to displace Wadou Ichimonji and overwhelm his control in order to feast on the blood it so desired. He’d prepared himself for a battle of domination, honing his mental blades for the conflict he was sure would come.
It never did.
If anything, Kitetsu and Wadou seemed to be getting on better than they ever had before. It baffled him, and continued to do so until the day they spotted their first Marine sail since escaping Enies Lobby.
The surge of rage, quickly banked, that flooded through both of his swords at the sight of the Marine symbol shocked him. In that one brief moment, an image appeared in his mind. A face.
Zoro narrowed his eyes. So that was the answer, was it? A truce. A temporary alliance for one single purpose.
Vengeance.
Zoro had not forgotten the face of the man who had destroyed Yubashiri.
Neither had Kitetsu and Wadou.
