my cats are both extraordinarily fond of finding a patch of skin and just licking on it forever and ever until i have to kick them off or lose my dermis. it feels a lot like a bad, really concentrated sunburn. i also once (because i'm a masochist) used a pumice stone over my whole body, just to see what it was like, and that had much the same effect except, you know, everywhere. so i could reeeeeally empathize with the poor man. :D you did an excellent job of describing the tactile sensations.
