So, instead of song lines, it's the first lines of books :) . I'll accept titles (and possibly authors) as answers.

1) The sleet-laden wind buffeted Magyana, whipping wet strands free from the wizard’s thick white braid as she trudged across the churned ground of the battlefield.
2) The morning fog had lifted, giving way to a clear day.
3) Harry Potter was a highly unusual boy in many ways.
4) This is the worst story I know about hocuses.
5) Almost everyone thought the man and the boy were father and son.
6) This is a story about a man named Eddie and it begins at the end with Eddie dying in the sun.
7) Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it…
8) The Stormwing sat on a low wooden perch like a king on his throne.
9) Suppose that you and I were sitting in a quiet room overlooking a garden, chatting and sipping at our cups of green tea while we talked about something that happened a long while ago, and I said to you, “That afternoon when I met so-and-so…was the best afternoon of my life, and also the very worst afternoon.”
10) A squat grey building of only thirty-four stories.

#'s 1, 2, and 4 are the loves of my life...
;o Have fun not getting most of them.
