Sally Stetins packed her palmtop and notebook into her bag. She smiled a little at the tiny computer. It had been a graduation present from an anonymous admirer. Her mom had been pretty upset until assurances from Tony Stark had calmed her down ( Read more... )

Sally hadn't meant for the shield to go up but nearly getting knocked over did that to her. So maybe training at Xavier's once a week wouldn't exactly be a bad thing. She caught the bowl before it fell and righted it, forcing her shield down and then looked to see who was speaking.

Oh it was the other Sally, the only other person in this place that was anywhere near her age. She smiled brightly. "Hey. I'm Sally Blevins."

Sally made sure her shield was really down, adjusted the sack lunch to her other hand, and shook hands. "Yeah, chance of a lifetime, right?"

"Seriously, I know!" Sally grinned. "Have you gotten a chance to shadow Ms. Potts yet?" She took the bag lunch from the other girl's hand without thinking, her natural helpfulness taking over. "Let me get that for you." She glanced at the sack lunch, the very nice clothes, the styled haircut and high quality makeup. Obviously from money, but on a tight allowance, maybe? Sally grabbed two cookies and held one out. "My treat," she said. "I know I have to keep my strength up this afternoon!"

"Thanks." Sally's smile broadened. "I started doing that Monday. She's very...no nonsense. Are you gonna be shadowing her too?" It'd be nice to have someone else around, especially someone her own age.

The other girl paid for her things and Sally made a mental note to buy cookies tomorrow or bring them and pay her back. The two made their way to one of the side tables, far away enough from the older interns who had a cloud of indifference around them. "You ever get the feeling that you're being judged here?"

Sally giggled. "Oh my god," she said as she sat down. "When aren't we being judged? Everybody seeing that we're living up to the incredible opportunity we've been given?" She looked away a little at that. She really had been handed this, she knew that. It wasn't like she would've gotten in if it weren't for her benefactors.

"I followed Ms. Potts once, earlier this week. I'm scheduled to go with her after the afternoon seminar." Sally stuffed the apples in her bag for later. "It's on, um, microbusiness enterprises in crumbling urban cores?"
