Back, what did I miss?

Almost a year since last I wrote here. The magic and madness of facebook tore me away. I must say I don't get as much from facebook as I did here. It just seems empty in a way, like looking into shop windows but never going in. Perhaps that is the future of communication.

I always seem to come back to writing when I am down. I guess it is my therapy ( Read more... )

I've missed reading you, lady. I'm sure you'll muddle onto a path soon enough, just give yourself time and space to really look.

Love.

I 100% agree with this, and just to rub salt in the wound twitter is becoming more and more popular; degenerating speech even further with its 140 character limit - quite the Orwellian prophecy.

I check LJ every day in the hopes that people will one day soon, learn the error of their one sentenced ways and return. Although I'm somewhat hypocritic in the sense that my last post was well over a year ago too.

As far as your conundrum is concerned: my assumption about your assertion that you should be doing medicine is because of your cancer battle. That in becoming a doctor; you'd be not only helping others forced into the same situation, but you'd fulfil that need to give back to the profession that has given you so much? I know a number of people - not specifically in your situation, but some certainly isomorphic, who have become very happy doing things they thought they should be doing out of obligation ( ... )

The dilemna of choice? anonymous September 15 2010, 11:34:46 UTC

When an obstacle is large, but well known, it is easier to understand, and overcome. It becomes a focus and a catalyst for our efforts, and we know when we have reached the other side of it.

When we have a lot more choices, the open ended-ness of that choice leaves us unsure and unfulfilled. Have we chosen the right path? Given that path, have we reached the best end of it?

There are those that narrow their outlook, to return to the view of single obstacles again. But I think that loses the depth and complexity of what is on offer 'out there'.
