Claret, salsify.
Neither might be pronounced as you think they should be, depending on your language education.
Claret rhymes with ferret.
Salsify rhymes with maple tree.
Be warned.
I enjoy this weather because I can open the windows.
I transplanted a couple of plants yesterday. One seems to have baked, however. The bird's eye chilies are doing A-OK, though.
On that note, how to spell it? Chili, chile, chilli? There seems to be no clear consensus, which is highly irritating. It seems that chili is the meaty stew, Chile is the country and chilli is the only one clearly for the pepper alone, but chili is very common, while chile is the Spanish spelling.
I have been suffering from dry skin but lazy about lotion.
We have put a whole whack of Ikea bookcases up. We are now experts at Besta construction. The only thing we didn't do is attach them to the walls yet because we may paint and also we might adjust placement slightly. The annoying part is that the hardwood floor isn't level and there is a transition section to the granite hallway which leaves a slight space.
On that note, we hate Whirlpool appliances. The fridge is crappy. First of all, the doors are a little weak on the magnetic seal. Second of all, stainless steel doors that are not magnetic? I want to be able to use fridge magnets! I have a little pepper grinder with a magnet that now lives on the side of the fridge, but that's only a little sliver of space because of the counter and cabinets. Plus, the door are crooked. This might be the fault of the installers, but why would they be so hard to install properly in the first place?
Okay, the dishwasher is okay in that both rotating jets are separate and don't need a central spike, but the cutlery section falls apart if you knock it. It opens up and spills clean cutlery all over the floor! Arrrgh!
The microwave over the stove is fine, but the fan is weak. Also, why is the fan part way at the back? It should cover the entire stove! Things on the front burners don't get ventilated efficiently!
Anyhow, I volunteered to cook Christmas dinner this year for my in-laws, which should be exciting. Turkey all by myself! This is because my in-laws aren't the greatest cooks. They have some good things, but I've always been disappointed by the turkey. This time, I will do it my way! Except I've only cooked roast chickens.
Eep!
Well, one thing for sure, curried squash. Except that I did it yesterday and screwed up and it was too salty and not sweet enough. Should have caramelized more onions and been more careful with the salt. I will do it better next week or so.
That's all I've got on my mind for now.
