"Having said all this I would like to say that he is the character with the most potential to grow."

That is why the flash forward made me upset. It really didn't seem like he did. He was still suffering, horribly.

You are right. They do like to make him suffer don't they. I thought the "flash forward" was almost overkill.

I know we talked about this earlier, but I figured I'd write my thouhts down. I agree with you about Jack. It's not simply about liking or hating him.

What's frustrating about him as a character is that he goes back and forth. You can tell he WANTS to believe, but he just can't let himself do it. He's his own worst enemy, and there are times he even doubts himself, and with such strong personalities as Sayid, Sawyer, and even Locke, he loses his confidence and resorts, to being obstinate, which gets him nowhere, and just pisses off everyone else.

And I agree with you also, that he has the most potential to grow. I hope that there are even further along flashbacks where he makes peace with what happened. But then, if he didn't on the island, what could make him? Would he let himself, with his freakin' martyr complex.

Yes, Jack has a martyr complex. I wonder what he was hoping to gain from jumping off the bridge. Absolution? Peace? Maybe both?
