"...And there goes Kitty on her prized chocobo, turning a corner and approaching the home stretch! This could be a close one, folks!" Sure, she felt silly, but nobody was home right now. Holding a moistened towel in her hands, she pressed the cloth to the floor and motored her legs, racing down the halls while cleaning them at the same time. Announcing some imaginary chocobo race - as she knew she could never afford to buy and keep a chocobo - she sped along the pathways and skidded around corners, eyes focused on the task at hand.
"Here they come, neck in neck! It could be a photo finish! Get those cameras -- OOF!" Her foot slipped on the wet floor, sending her into a slide onto her stomach a few feet down the hall before she came to a stop. Coughing to gather her breath, Kitty's face burned red as she got up to her hands and knees. At least nobody was watching. As she lowered her rear to the floor and took a moment to gather herself, she caught something in the nearby corner. Something sparkled.
"Did someone leave their jewelry?" She asked herself, crawling on her hands and knees to the corner. Kitty stopped dead, eyes wide, when she found a little crystal twinkling in that corner.
Nobody's here... is it for me? The girl looked around, expecting to see someone else walking along to come pick it up. Nothing but the silence and the occasional cry of crows filled her ears. Giving a contented sound in her throat, she reached out and touched the little thing.
Kitty felt... dazed. Relaxed. The soap, hot water, and wooden smell of the dojo was replaced by the cool, still scent of stone. Her ears heard the gentle creak of a door beginning to open, mildly muffled, as if something covered her ears somewhat.
"...Rose!?" A small girl's voice exclaimed, a familiar voice that she definitely heard recently.
"N---!" Static filled her ears, but soon faded. She caught a snippet of her voice.
"Why are you here?" The little girl asked, surprised to see her... wherever they were.
"Um... well...." Kitty heard herself say. Or... wait. Did the girl call her Rose!? As she explained to her companion of bad men and kidnapping her little brother, Kitty's head swam. My name... I just learned my name...!
"What? They took your little brother?! Why?" The little girl asked in shock.
"Pinion has a special ability. He can draw things he's seen straight out of his memory. I don't know how he does it, but the ----- researchers are trying to use it for military purposes!
"For example, if there was a castle... they could sneak Pinion in, and then have him draw a floor map of the place to gain the upper hand. They can tell the strength of the castle just by seeing that," she heard herself sigh.
"They say that it's in Pinion's best interest to develop this ability, but if he was caught, he might be killed. Pinion is still a child. How can they make a kid who's not even old enough to decide on his own do that? I won't allow it!"
"Rose..." The younger girl said.
"...Ack! I'm sorry, I forgot about your problem! Where are ---- and the others?" Kitty... Rose... heard herself ask.
"Somewhere in here, I think. I'm not sure about ----, but ---ro and ---- are probably captured somewhere. What a pain," the little girl answers, exasperated.
"WHAA!?" Captured!? How can she say that so carelessly!?
...The sound of silence and the crows returned to her ears, and the scent of a freshly-mopped floor returned to her nose. The cat +anima shook her head, and looked down at the spent crystal in her hand.
"Pinion was that special~ that slimeballs would take him and use him like thaaaat~" She growled quietly. Then she paused, blinking thrice. Why on earth did she say that in a sing-song voice?
"My name is Rooooose, and I own the candy stooooore~... what is this a musicaaaaaaal!?" Oh, this was going to be a long, long day.
[ooc: The events of this little solo number occurred this morning. I was just super busy this morning, so I didn't have time to write it until now. D:]
