(00) The Dream

She was a cat.

The grass sped beneath her as she ran, and she had never felt so alive! There was a soft mew from very close by, and she noticed that she held a very small kitten from her mouth.

She knew she had to keep the kitten safe.

Over mossy logs, through bushes, and along she went, never seeming to tire. The scent of fresh roses met her nose, and soon she was running through a beautiful garden of sensory delight: Rose bushes of white, pink and red grew everywhere, the sun warm upon her fur, and ...

Strange, shadowy men burst into view, the rose bushes obliterated and the land growing cold. One of them picked her up by the scruff of her neck, and another took the kitten away from her. No! He needs me! She tried to cry out, but nothing came from her mouth but distorted meowing.

That was when a terrible roar rocked the land, a large blur of gray appearing. With a single swing of a massive claw, it was a bear that struck out against the men, and they dissolved into nothingness.

The kitten fell and she caught him, and she was somehow human again. The bear rose upon its hind legs and looked down upon her, tilting its head in mild confusion, before bending down to nab a rose she didn't remember putting in her hair with its jaws. After patting itself as if looking for a pocket, the bear took the rose into its paws and closed the flower tight between them, looking content.
