I'm pretty much down with McLuhan. Guernica is pretty much a visual Rosetta Stone, a cultural object that bridges cultural boundaries.

Thanks for weighing in. I like the image of this as a Rosetta Stone, a door that swings between multiple territories. I'm also intrigued by the level of security designed to keep us from the painting (one reason I love this shot of it) because it's proven to be invulnerable to vandalism so far. Spray paint just washes off that thing.
