Doors are eternal. Just about any door, really. This is a pretty good one. Windows too. Except for Windows ME, I guess.

Good points! Friend of mine once said the pinnacle of our civilization is the doorknob. While his reasoning was on the obscure side, even this knobless door may come with windows already installed.

The doorknob is what separates us from other animals and the elements. Although I guess an ape could open a doorknob, and maybe a porpoise could squeak at someone and get them to do it for hir.

I think this was indeed his line of reasoning.

oh, well - both

some are easier to open than others
some are light
some have no lock, but are heavy
some doors have locks, but are not locked
some are locked, but the key is easy to find
some locks can be picked
and some are really damn difficult to get through

and often, the same door looks different depending on your own strengths (y'know, If I'm a theif with a high level of lockpick skill, that door's gonna look different than if I'm a dwarf with a big axe)

Have you seen Duchamp’s manual of instructions for assembly and disassembly, when has been reprinted in facsimile?

I've been looking for it off and on. Might be worth a new "on" cycle or even a trip to Philadelphia.

That's really funny! I ran across that in the context of the Sedona dumpster diving adventures, but didn't go all the way back! Required reading!

Well I've had cats who stand up on their back legs and turn doorknobs w/ their hands. (One of them had opposable thumbs).

That does sound like the type of cat you would hang out with.

Oh yeah, my cat jake often tried. He could open cabinets, and lever-type doorknobs... but couldn't ever grasp the round knobs. He was always trying to let himself outside.

Jake was a fab. cat.
