Overture: Coming Attractions

Been busy. Good news is I think I'm an honorary Pole now -- who knew there was an "almost kosher" vodka bottled with actual leaves of grass? And who knew Poland had gotten so into chakra theory? Although I have to admit it's a shame that at least two of my Brooks Brothers shirts have been destroyed ( Read more... )

Perhaps now-a-days people are resigned to the oligarchy of the rich. I think, yes, that list does have a bit of relevance still.

Thanks for your response!

What interests me about the list is the ways the pantheon has evolved over the last human lifetime. The temples of capitalism still pray to most of the same ticker symbols (XOM, GE, GM, F and what became C and JPM among others) but the differences are pretty exciting sources of leverage against history. We will tour these archons of equity, these dollar-denominated demiurges, over the next stretch.

ps loved the yeats shout-out

Did you actually like the Zubrowka? I don't remember if I ever drank it as an adult. I think they let me have a drop on my tongue when I was a kid, since they let me try a little of anything I wanted that wasn't poison--and even poison wasn't always off limits ( ... )

Zubrowka reminds me of a somewhat nalewkified take on the melissa ens. It's got the same chlorophyll kick without the citrus overtones of the lemon balm (or the absolute proof) -- it basically tastes "green." I think you should have it. All the cool kids are doing chlorophyll. It's spring.

I take it the baltic sangria is used as a fruit preserve as well as a drinkable infusion?

I never really got into cooking with rocks because roasting them can be a nightmare. But now that you mention it, ground ambar should dissolve reasonably well and deliciously. I should start some rock batches going for future centuries to puzzle over or enjoy.

As usual, an interesting and diverse post. So of course, all I can focus on is the vodka part. Doh.

vodka is good and the occasion for it -- the rest is flashback & foreshadowing. let's go out some time!

I like the white card exercise, because it leads to so many other things. However, my favorite effect is still using the spot as a lens.

It's become pretty much the industry standard, but I'm impressed with the mnemonic time travel nuance the HBL laid on it. "Whatever things I enjoy will become a memory | Whatever is past will not be seen again"

except the rich do of course hold considerble sway. And everyone who is anyone of course knows of the optic reflex, so the fuck what?

Yeah, that don't bug me. What I love is the HBL's treatment of the tattva exercise as a mnemonic device, which kicks it up a notch in my opinion.

As for the rich, this isn't a hymn to the big 64. It's an invitation to a big game safari.

Funny, I'm sure I was making some kind of joke here, but I'm so burnt at the moment, I can't comprehend my own humor! I'm sure it seemed funnier at the time, or maybe I was just delerious then too.

If you're honorary Pole, you'll feel quite at home at my housewarming party in Greenpoint. Day: Whenever I have it, Time: See, Parsifal, it's in space.

As luck would have it, Miss Peel, I think I might be free at those G Train coordinates. Thanks for the nod. I'd better practice drinking neat like a Pole, with that sharp intake of breath to feed the fire.

Ever have pink gin?

My tendency to avoid drinking liquid Christmas Tree keeps me from savoring the varied colors of gin, but in your provenance, I can be convinced.

Girls from Wombat tribe won't eat wombat, girls in Kangaroo won't touch kangaroo so it makes sense you'd avoid drinking distilled rainbow blood!
