okay. here's what i think. the new burton bindings have ratchets that are built with the metal bottom and 2 different parts of plastic. The plastic 1. the button/lever system to tighten and release the ladder strap. and 2. the tooth piece that bites into the ladder strap so you don't slide out.
This tooth piece has the ability to spin almost 360 on its hinge, and if it is up-side-down when the strap is put through the ratchet, it wont release... Dumb, i know. Compare it to the other strap and see if it is indeed upsidedown.
I had a customer who just had this problem last week - we ended up snipping off the little tiny piece of plastic that keeps the tooth piece from rotating 360 so we could turn it back far enough where we could squeeze the strap through. I would try to get a new strap from the shop you bought it from, but be aware that this could happen. I have a feeling burton is going to change this system in the near future.
thanks michelle! i still couldn't get it unjammed and i couldn't tell if the problem was the same so i took it to the shop and the guy just put it in a vice and, well, him and another guy pulled real hard. binding is no worse for the wear, i just have to reassemble it now. thanks again :)

If you haven't figured out the trick to them, let me know what kind they are :)
