Last Friday found D and I considering the Friday fish fry at a local supper club of sorts, as her coworkers has long extolled its virtues. I'm not a huge fan of fried foods, but I can get behind both Fridays and fish, and I figured two out of three wasn't bad ( Read more... )

you sure it wasn't tartar sauce?

Also- ichthyology: The branch of zoology that deals with the study of fishes.

Please tell me this word is not a part of your vernacular and you had to look it up before writing this post.

I have tasted tartar sauce and I have tasted mayonnaise and I'll have you know in the past I've proved exceptionally adept at distinguishing between the two.

As for ichthyological: you know how I roll. ENGLISH DEGREE.

I bet you've been waiting several years to use that word in a sentence too. hehe.

The Esquire Club, somewhat near the Inferno. The food wound up being terrible, with fries that were straight out of the grocery store frozen food aisle.

They screwed up shrimp, which I didn't even know was possible.

Oh, yeah, I've heard that place is naaaaaasssty. Great, if you're 73 and want to spend $4 on a bland meal, but if you like flavor and well-prepared food, not the place to go.

It was really kind of her to bring you a fresh bowl, though. I mean, you wouldn't want the half-gallon of mayonnaise that had already been sitting there getting breathed on by the previous hour's fish fry guests.

My sister found a "hairball" in her fish fry at the Esquire club a few years ago. I went there once and the food was okay.

I work out at Mariner's Inn and I think we have a really good Friday fish fry as well as other fish entrees. We have deep fried cod, perch, and baby walleye. We also have broiled fish; cod, walleye, tilapia, orange roughy, etc. It's a little more expensive, but much better. Otherwise try the Nautigal or Avenue Bar for good fish fry. :)
