As much as I like to say I'm into new music, there are many many CDs I wish I'd picked up this year that I never got around to. Muse being one of them. I finally got the "new" aka 6 month old Mesh album last month on Troy's recommendation.
Maybe I should add even more CDs to my BMG shopping cart now. haha.

Although I hate hate hate gnarls barkley.

From wikipedia: "Mesh is a band from Bristol, England whose music could be described as a blend of synth pop and darkwave. Earlier tracks had more of an industrial edge than recent releases."

We're not talking the best albums of 1998, sister.

Hey dude, Mesh brought out a new album this year and it kicked ass. Good list by the way, I still can't get into Beck though, today on the radio I heard a song by him and it reminded me of the Grateful Dead.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on Mesh. I have yet to hear them, but anything remotely associated with "the sceen" is likely to cause a violent allergic reaction at the very least. You know how I roll.

Although I would actually consider some of Future Sex/Love Sounds to be the best synthpop I've heard since Violator.

Dude, it is so not blackmail when its good music. I heart JT's newest album, despite the fact that admitting so has made many a friend and "punk" student of mine LOL, at me. Oh well.

You know, I was really disappointed with The Crane Wife at first too, but the more I listen to it the more I like it. It's different for them, and I think it's a bit more subtle than their previous stuff.

Yeah, I'll agree with you on that. I like most of the songs on the album well enough, and they've topped themseves with some of their best moments yet ("Shankhill Butchers," "You'll Not Feel the Drowning") but overall it's such a step back from the gorgeous, wall-to-wall bullseye of "Picaresque" that I can't help but be disappointed.

I didn't actually hear the Sleater-Kinney disc, although I've heard it's good. As for the Lips album, it has a few solid songs (like the Yeah Yeah Yeah song, Free Radicals, and Pompeii am Götterdämmerung) but for the most part I think it's overproduced and underwritten. But to each their own!

And GO GO TEAM CARTOONIST!
