Wonderful work! I'd seen less than half these before -- thanks for posting them! Trying to narrow down the portfolio, you say? If you must. The first paintings I'd leave out: Unicorn Jack, Misery Rivet, and Man with Suspenders. If you must exclude even more than that, I'd choose from Thin Man, Nap-Time, maybe Headless Beings, maybe Slow Crawl. So many I wish I could see in real life. Anyway, those are my recs, for what it's worth. But hell, I could be wrong on any of it.
Thanks, Ron! Except for a couple, you picked almost the same ones to exclude as I did. I'm considering photographing some of the other work to see if any of it reads better digitally. Your help is much appreciated.
you've grown into painting like a hermit crab grows into a tossed out beer can, you've taken something oft-boring and made quite a awesome spectacle of it...
I enjoy it all... but particularly LOVE the lady of the brambles images (both), 'locking the door', and 'the slow crawl' (even if it doesn't so much 'fit' with the rest).... and all the portrait-styled pieces are very strong.
jeez. like the headless stuff too. I'm really no help with narrowing down, am I?

And I just read a stunning review by Michael Dirda in The American Scholar of John Crowley's AEgypt Cycle:

I recommend this essay highly -- makes me want to drop everything and go back for my third and fourth readings.
