A saddish yet nice day...

We had Auntie's funeral this morning. It was a smallish turnout because A.) she kind of kept to herself and B.) most of her close friends have already passed on. It was nice, though. Lovely and dignified. I know she approves. We buried her remains in Mount Auburn cemetery with her parents and brothers. I wasn't going to cry, but I kind of lost it ( Read more... )

Well, at least I can deal with this part, if you're going really long term, don't use a general savings account, depending on how much you're actually putting away. Well, unless you find a 5%+ rate on a savings. 5% will next you roughly $100 a year per every 1500.

It actually sounds like things went as well as they could have. You've honored your great aunt's life and her memory in the company of close family and friends. I think it's wonderful that you plan to use some of the inheritance for charitable means - and of course, to help the little ones go to college. That's huge. :)
