15. Favorite conversation between Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji
Episode 20. Probably not many folks' favourite, but the standoff between them in Yiling in Episode 20 . I have pretty much always been a total sucker for My Heroes fighting with words and emotional weapons, and Wei Wuxian - who is starting his slide down into mental and emotional hell - is waaaay better at them (to be fair to poor Lan Wangji, this is not hard, the boy is trying to use them to reach out but just doesn't know how) and he is not shying using them to inflict as much pain as fast as he can to force the only person who will challenge him back outside a barbed-word barrier. I mean, he's got reasons, good if wrong reasons, trying in a twisted way to protect himself, Lan Wangji and pretty much everyone he isn't out to kill anyway, but still... when Lan Wangji won't back off and accept his facade of 'everything's fine', he goes for the emotional jugular. And he wins, and they both lose.
And since I pretty much always need something soothing after a verbal vivisection, much as I love them... the lovely, gently bittersweet, accepting one at the Jingshi (Lan Wangji's home) in episode 43, that ends in softly falling snow, the words "I'm sorry... and thank you" and that music....
