Hunt for the Butterfly Box

Oct 16, 2006 09:19

I found a most wonderful unfinished box at Hobby Lobby.  I took it home, dolled it up, and decided I wanted another to doll up.  Alas, my local Hobby Lobby no longer has this particular style of box, and I was told that they won't be getting anymore in.  I'm really upset about this because my Mother's Xmas present was going to be an identical box ( Read more... )

awwwww the begging cat is too much!

I'm looking for unfinished boxes myself tonight. Maybe I'll find something that's close tonight. We don't have Hobby Lobby's here in Arizona, but maybe we'll get lucky.

Thanks for looking. I hate it when I find something perfect and then a store disappears it.

oh. i had the same problem. I bought the only one they had ages ago over the summer. Unless someone has a hobby lobby that still has one floating around you're probably out of luck. :( stupid hobby lobby. maybe if we all wrote angry letters they'd make more of them!

Doesn't it suck? I can't figure out why they don't continue to stock something they're selling.

The woman at the store told me that sometimes they get one time shipments in from their supplier. That kind of seems like an odd business practice to me. I thought if something sold, you got more. Anyways...I checked the supplier online, and they don't have anything even close. Grrrr...hobby lobby...grrrrr

Your cat is so cute! He (she?) looks like gingerbread!

I'll look and see if I can find one when I go to HL later today or tomorrow. I just went through the same damn thing with Michaels. The company that supplies them quit making the boxes I adore, and I was going ballistic trying to find more!

Thank you, Thank you! I just about cried on the stock lady's shoulder when she said they won't stock my box anymore.

Oh, he's a He. And he is also a sucker for compliments. He's purring because I told him more people think he's cute.

Fie, FIE, I say!

I checked my two local Hobby Lobbys. Hobby Lobbies? Ai.

No dice. I looked for something similar -- you know, big, flat, nice-looking boxes with decent hardware. They had doodly-squat. Sorry I couldn't find anything! I'll keep my eyes peeled if I go out to Michael's this week, since they often have similar stuff.

In the meantime, if you can't find what you want, I've been looking at this site for my boxes. They have some really beautiful stuff. It's a little pricier than the stuff at craft stores, but it's very nice!

I have a Hobby Lobby by my house and can go and take a look- does the box come with the felt lining and dividers in it already?

Also, should I look in the unfinished wood crafty stuff section or the fancy box section (I'll look in both, I'm just wondering where you found the first one)

:)

Thanks so much! I put the felt in it, but the dividers were already inside when I bought it. I found it in the unfinished wood section, but all stores are different. I really appreciate it.

I bought somewhat similar boxes from Michael's Arts & Crafts before. Only they didn't have the dividers or the same styling on the outside [no raised "strap" or metal corners]. I'm not sure how exactly close you care about being, but they were made of the same stuff and appear to be about the same size, and there were a few different sizes/shapes IIRC.
