What's kinda amusing is that microprinters and digital cameras are being combined by other companies now (including a polaroid subsidiary): to make instant cameras that don't use film.
The niche won't go away, but the technology to fill it is definitely changing.
*shrug* I have a ton of adhesive-backed photo paper for my printer already: there's a market for it still. Film is just slowly going away, especially at a consumer level. Film still has a place for high end acquisition, particularly for motion pictures. I wasn't re-convinced of that until recently, but that's another story.
Here's an article and And the website for Zink, the company that Polaroid partnered with and licensed their new technology to. Note that I linked to the page where they talk about their integrated digital camera and printer that does adhesive-backed 2x3" prints. It's water-resistant (unlike inkjet) but digital and produces less postconsumer waste than the older tech.
While the articles about Polaroid discontinuing their instant-print film miss this detail, it really seems to me like they're directing their resources elsewhere and into newer technologies that are closer to what the rest of the industry is doing. Still, there will be instant-print film from other providers for a while to come, most likely.

Besides. My printer(s) haven't worked since your second visit here. So I has no access to print pictures at my haus.
