A Murse!

Jul 12, 2006 16:59

My husband got this email today and forwarded it to me. "Look," he said. "I could be in the style pages!"

Yeah, of the Cedar Rapids Gazette...

What kind of bag does John have? Link!

I have no link! IIRC, he got it as a present from the Humboldt Foundation when they offered him a fellowship--aha, to do his postdoc in Germany, so it must be that European style connection!

Anyway, it's an over the shoulder bag, not bulgy, but sleek, squarish, black leather with a matte, mottled pattern.

I can't believe I spent the time googling this. Here is a

link.

As a note, the bag is not a Prada bag, this is just the closest match.

Say, that's a sleek bag. I went with something quite similar to this. Not nearly as sleek, but the anvil logo connotes manliness.

Is that actually his/her title--'Young Adult Reporter'? Cool.

If you call a man purse a 'murse' won't it be confused with male nurses, who could also be called 'murses' (if one went, say, temporarily insane). So a male nurse's man purse would be a murse's murse. Or something.

My favorite part, though, is this One of your former students thought she remembered you carrying a bag like that. It's like he's now famous all across Eastern Iowa.

Yes! The most stylish physics professor in Iowa! What an accolade!

He also wears socks with his Birkenstocks, just so you know.

Yes, that's the reporter's title, from the email. I reckon she's an intern.

"Murse's murse," hee!
