One good thing about writing this second book is that novel research involves cooking and eating a lot of bacon. I haven't yet quite figured out how best to cook bacon, however. I have tried the jaylake method, which involves throwing a hunk of sliced bacon into a cast-iron pan and letting it cook for, what, an hour? over low heat ( Read more... )

I usually just fry it in its own grease. But this is sufficiently gross that I do not do it often.

And, ditto to burning fat everywhere! I once decided to fry it shirtless to avoid getting the grease on my shirt. I didn't exactly follow that through to its logical conclusion. Not the brightest moment of my life, safe to say.

What about America's Test Kitchen? G watches them on PBS and I think they have a website. Maybe they've done bacon.
