Virtual Lulu's!

Feb 04, 2007 10:49

Good morning!

Here's the plan. It's zero degrees outside with a windchill of -18. A very good day to stay inside and write while drinking cup after cup of hot coffee. Usually, on Sunday afternoons, jennreese hosts the virtual Lulu's writing group on her blog, but she's busy with a party and other carousing, so today Lulu's is here ( Read more... )

No writing for me today, so go you and your dragons!

Go you and your big breakfast!! May it make your blood sugar happy as you pre-test!

John's trying to persuade me to go to the lumber store with him. My response: "I'm not going anywhere today." Brrrr.

Ended up at the coffee joint for breakfast, so managed a couple hundred bonus words after all. In this chapter, my heroes face the threat (though not the actual appearance) of one of the three giant chickens of Norse myth.

Yay lulus!

I want to write a first draft of my new literary upload story. (muahaha, i'm in ur genrez, subverting ur boundariez)

I want to let it wander and be detailed and drifty and have imperfect prose. And three points of view, in close third. And melancholy.

Hee! Sounds like a devious plan. I was sort of vaguely tempted to head downtown to HoA, but nooooo. Just going out to the driveway this morning for the NYTimes was enough.

well my goals are relatively non-ambitious--at least 300 words on the current short story (Cowgirls in space) and re-read How to Hide Your Heart before sticking it in the mail tomorrow (so I guess I should write a cover letter too).

And I'm pretty sure it's not so warm as 0 degrees here, though I haven't gone outside yet to confirm this. Too cold to go tracking which is v v cold indeed.

These are good goals! Good luck with 'em! Where are you sending HtHyH?

Man, I wouldn't wish tracking on my worst enemy today.

How odd. I just followed a link from John Scalzi's blog to the blog of someone here in the Iowa City area. Funny way to meet a local writer. And you're right, way too cold to go out today. Except that I will need caffeine at some point.

So I'm off to go write the next new scene that's being added to my novel in the second draft. We'll see how it goes.

Another Iowa City area fantasy writer--welcome! Last week we did a real Lulu's at the House of Aromas on Clinton St.; if/when we do it again, you're welcome to come!

Not sure that would work well for me without a laptop, but sounds fun. And there's the fact that since my college friend's wife opened "Grounds for Dessert" I feel like a traitor going to any other coffee house.

So far I got distracted by rewriting the first scene in the novel, and then by the internet, but I'm finally getting into the scene I intended to write today.

Lisa and I are meeting early to snag a little Lulu's time in before our LAN party this afternoon. So glad you're hosting -- I didn't have time to clean. ;)

More later, when I'm at Lulu's. It's t-shirt weather here.
