Yes, I've finally worked out the ending of Book Two. I wrote the very last scene on Friday, on my day off, and it is just right, and it sets up really nice tensions for the ( Read more... )

Yup, I'm pretty new, still. I've enjoyed your blog particularly because it always seems so upbeat and positive.

Anyway, yes, it's very nice to meet you :)

Thanks, Steph! Tonight's writing should start with Conn in a swordfight.

Could get messy.

Oooh, now I really can't wait. You know swordfighting is on my top 5 list of Things I Love In Books, right? :)

I do! Conn doesn't exactly swordfight, though. He's not very good at it, that is.

Which is why it gets messy...

Thanks, Charlie! Y'know, I think the new laptop, Sparks, did help. Somehow everything felt fresher...

Actually, something you said about the Book Two proposal helped a LOT as I was solving the problem. That whole section of the book comes out of that one comment, actually. So thanks again!!

Sweet! THanks for sharing this -- it gives me hope and inspiration for my own knotty fiction issues... :)

You're very welcome, Mike! I was thinking more about this after posting it. I'm in the process of figuring out how to write for a specific purpose. Before, I wrote if/when I felt like it, and now I'm under contract, and that's a different kind of pressure. And what I learned is that, whatever purpose I'm aiming at, I can't force it. (To switch metaphors) the plot cooks at its own pace. I could turn up the temperature or put the lid on, but then all I'd end up with is a mess of charred plot.
