So like... when did the DFW area become so full of rockabilly hipsters? I didn't know or I would have stocked up on my 'geek chic' attire. I went to a bar in Fort Worth last week and it was nothing but black glasses, sweater vests and converse. AND When did lower Greenville become cool? When did the hipsters move in and the yuppies move out? It's like someone deflated all the boob jobs and started handing out emo
CDs. When did Good Records decide that Deep Ellum wasn't cool and move to Greenville? Do you think the D.E. kids have grown up and moved to the new hip place so the record store had to follow them?

I have a friend that is a hipster.
She is cool... and her husband
has the geek thing going for him... which is perfect for whatever the scene is that is going on right now...

Speaking of him, Hopkins
and I (along with Bethany who I like a lot and wish I knew a bit better) went to a Dallas bar on Greenville to see the band Happy Bullets. The opening band... not sure who they were, but they were pretty awesome like they were kind of trying to be Spiritualized
... or at least in that genre. H.B. was fun to listen to. Did emo ska become cool and I didn't know it, or is this band just different? They remind me of kind of a cross between Sgt. Pepper's Beatles
and a Dallas local band/RCA recording artist/ex-RCA recording artist Sugarbomb. (without the flamboyantly gay and anti religious lead singer) Someone needs to tell the trumpet player that he should learn to play the trombone or not play it at all. But the guitar player could play it just fine... so why didn't he do it all the time? I liked the bone they used... a pee-shooter instead of a valve. I understand why people use the valve-bones, but as someone with experience.... I think they are just expensive and unnecessary. Oh! Is it okay to switch up lead singers now? I don't think that has EVER really worked. (okay, not ever in the past like 20 years). The guy that seemed to be the leader had the almost compulsory black glasses and he was also bald... but not hot bald... not hot bald like Lex
... not hot bald like Mike
It was cool that they had a hot chick bass player. Who started that? Bowie? Who else had hot chick bass players? Pumpkins and A Perfect Circle come to mind. I freakin' love Paz
from A.P.C. (and later from Zwan) She is hot and she would come onstage and play the electric viola... which is way cooler than the electric fiddle, imo. (I'm talking out of my ass... I don't know what she really played)

It was nice to see some live music... it has been a while. It makes me miss Jboy
real bad because I know he would have liked both bands.... especially the first one... too bad I don't know who they were.
